Barca will never sell any of their best players. Ronaldo was trouble and we would end up selling him or him leaving in the next few years so this was an offer fergie couldnt refuse.

I always love all the speculation about who we will buy. The player I rate very highly at the moment is Arshevin. Hes looked absolutely sublime when I have seen him, cant see arsenal selling him though.
 
One thing to come out of this as if it wasn't glaringly obvious already if Real Madrid want one of your players they'll get them eventually, it happened with Beckham, it eventually happened with Van Nistelrooy and it's happened again with Ronaldo

They only need to reach is minimum fee release clause (which is quite a bit more than £80m though granted), however, Messi wouldn't ever leave to Real Madrid and probably won't ever leave Barcelona.
 
And then football went really crazy, 80+ million?!?!? Thats more than barca spent on there entire champions league winning first team!
 
I dont think anyone would question his quality as a player but he is unlikely to ever go down in history as a united great because of his attitude. I would rather take a few seasons to build a better team that plays together in a more coherant fashion. We have become too dependant on certain players rather than playing as a team.

Thats why we lost to Barca.

Definitely need another winger - even if/when Valencia does arrive

Wouldnt be surprised if Huntelaar does go the other way - as he was pretty **** when RM didnt include him in last year's CL squad after arriving in Jan. Saying that would you pass up playing with Ronaldo, Kaka and who ever else arrives if you where him?

Is free kick ratio is actually pretty good so that isn't a great point to pick up on. Also the team has been fantastic in the last three seasons, what more can you want!

Ribery is no where near good enough to replace him and Robben is a laughable suggestion.
 
People would really pay that much for Ribery? Whenever i've watched him, he's far too inconsistant. They'll probably buy two strikers (Benzema/Huntelaar?) and either Valencia and some prospects, or save some cash.

hmm, 24 is too early too leave a team and be called one of the greats imo, He could of been.

Rooney can finally step out of Ronaldo's shadow, he doesn't get the recognition he should be getting. I do hope fergie spends it on players, hopefully quickly too.
 
What we need is some more midfield mettle. We need to buy 2 maybe 3 really good play makers.
 
Bit shocked by this. Every player has his price though. It will be interesting to see who we sign if he goes. It will give Rooney an opportunity to rise, the whole team will now revolve around him which is a very exciting prospect. Valencia is a must now. The downside is that any club we go to, will inflate prices even more knowing £80m is on it's way to Old Trafford.

i agree with that 100%, i say it every time rooney does allot more for the team, overall i cant wait too see rooney next season, he looks fired up, i think this could be his season aslong as he goes injury free through the summer

that's the thing though Rooney always seems to pick up injury's at vital times, I hope with all my heart he stays fit. Ronaldo was and is almost always fit.
