**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

According to the papers Shepherd's consortium are in pole position to takeover Newcastle.

Out of the frying pan into the fire.....back into the frying pan?

I still think he is decent, still a few years left in him yet

Nah, the Arsenal game last year showed he couldn't put up with the pace of a fit premiership team. That coupled with the fact that Man Utd need a creative, probing midfielder means it won't happen. Fletcher probably does Gattuso's job but better, he's far fitter, then there's Hargreaves (dead?) and Anderson who can both do it too, not many of Man Utd's central players can't pick the ball up, surge forwards and release a great ball through atm (this is my opinion)

I've been saying for a couple of years that Gattuso is the type of player we needed.

Not necessarily Gattuso himself, but a player in his mould.

Hoping Palacios can at least show signs of becoming half the player Gattuso was in his prime.

So these "local banks" don't have share holders?

I don't think it is necessarily a bad loan. RM remember do have the largest turnover of any club. Also were RM to go bankrupt, debtors would be first in line for assets. Its more about the club willing to take on the risk.

Linky

Not sure where exactly it is coming from, but the banks in Spain don't seem to be lending £100m out to whoever needs it to buy some footballers.

In fairness to Real they have chosen 2 very, very marketable players. Especially Kaka, everyone loves him.

I think it's better to just take the 80m really, Ronaldo has been "rocking the boat" for some time now.

It's not like he's irreplacable anyway, SAF will find someone just as good for much cheaper and who isn't quite as petulant.

Especially after his outburst after the CL Final; he seems to have conveniently forgotten that he was the one who almost lost it with his showboat penalty taking a year earlier.
