**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

How the *** did it get to this. 30 million was ridiculous anyway. By the end of the summer some teams will have 11 players worth over a billion.

quite normal with spanish clubs. By law they have to include a release clause in a contract so they need to make it fairly astronomical.

So why don't Man City just buy the Utd starting 11. They have the money and let's face it, Utd are by far the best in the world so it would be the most logical move.

utd might put out one of the strongest starting 11's around overall(though that is largely down to Ronaldo) but they aren't close to the 11 best players in their positions in the world. Not to mention Utd don't have to accept offers. I also find it funny to say they are by far the best in the world, they lost to Fulham, Arsenal(only people I remember off the top of my head) and more importantly Barca, who beat them quite easily and hugely convincingly. Would Barca accept an offer of 100million for each and every player they have and City buy the team, sure, but City could win the league spending 10mil a player on 15 other players, which for them is better business. Anyone can buy the league with an infinite amount of money and no care for business costs. ITs very hard to build a competitive squad that can win things while the outlay for players is offset by the winnings from cup/league wins, and thats what most successful businessmen will want to do. Because the only thing better than winning, is winning and making millions while winning, after all these guys are businessmen first and foremost.

People really just need to stop freaking out, its fully possible to not have a single 50million player in your squad and still win a league, cup, or both. Real Madrid are spending big because over the past 5 years the team has turned into a pile of steaming poop, they've been replacing Galatico's with, well, average average players. Theres 1000's of great players out there, and only a handful of clubs that can spend 20mil + a player, a few clubs for years have spent huge every few years, nothings changed, nothings new, only the minute by minute updates turns it into a media frenzy of ridiculous proportions.

Real Madrid are spending big and it is interesting, but for me its far more interesting to see who City, Utd and Arsenal bring in, and I can wait more than 14 minutes to find out.

Took me 14 minutes to read and then re-read your first paragraph ;)

I do agree though. ManU do not have the best starting 11 in the world. They HAD the best player but now he is as good as gone.

Without him I cant see Utd dominating the league next year. It would be interesting to know what the stats are like with him in the side and without, i bet they dont read well.

Its funny how people come out complaining when RM spend over 100million on players but when people like cheski, liverpool and Utd buy people for 30m they dont think anything is wrong.

For anyone below the top three spending 30m on a single player might as well be 100m for those teams. Nice to see them being brought down to the rest of the leagues level for a while.

I think RM have done some amazing business with these captures especially with the money they will make off them in shirt sales and such.

Aye, we were pretty average before Ronaldo joined us. :/

I wish people would stop thinking next year will be Manu this year minus 26 goals. All that will happen is the teams way of playing will adapt slightly. He only got 8 assists this year.

ManU will just adapt the style with new players around the old.

I can't see them dominating next year either, but they didn't this year either.

It's possible Utd may have a little bit of money available to go out and sign a replacement or two also ;)

Some people really do need to wait untill the summer transfer window is over before they start judging squads.

Anyway, the express are reporting that Utd are going to bid for Torres :D

I never mentioned any goals or assists, I said they wouldnt do as well without him as they would have with him. Simple but true.

I seen that. I mean seriously lol any scrap of credibility that rag had has gone out of the window. Don't get me wrong I think him and Roonaldo would form a formidable forward 2 but Liverpool to sell their best player by a country mile to Utd ????? I can't see it for £180million let alone £80million

He cant leave liverpool anyway as we need him too much we have no other strikers as good lol.

But i honestly cannot see it happening for that one reason also he himself has stated many many times the only club he would go to is his old club athletico madrid. Lets just hope our owners dont sell him due to money as their stupid in the first place! =/

I never said that you were average before Ronaldo, im saying you arent as good without him, do you think thats wrong?

You did however look average in the champions league final tho ;)

We have lost very big players before and still won big honours but thanks for your concern.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is planning to use some of the £80m raised by the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to launch a shock raid for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

Ha ! If you want Torres off us, you are going to have to stump up a damn sight more than £80m

Liverpool are preparing a £5m bid for Manchester City's England Under-21 defender Micah Richards.

Thats interesting though, at £5m, I would consider that a very good investment.
