*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

i'm really considering getting this, but there's a couple of things putting me off.

1, is it a lot better than the first.
2, whats the multiplayer mode like, i.e amount of server and players.
I did not like Arma1, i am loving this. This has to be my surprise of the year. There are some bugs but I dont mind too much as playing through a mission again is just as much fun.

Hell I suck at this game :D

I have played online a few times and spent some time in campaign mode. I really was hopping for some kind of BF2 game.

I must spend more time getting use to it i suppose.

Same old story over and over again. I can't imagine the developers who plough years of their lives into something want it to be delivered to the public as an inferior product. I'm a designer and I hate having to rush out artwork just because a client is 'going away for the weekend' stuff like that. The amount of projects I have worked on and had to botch just to get it to print in time is really sad. I guess it is the nature of the best in this industry. But you can't blame the devs when they dont have control of their own work because of contractual obligation. They wouldn't get any funding for their next projetcs etc.

I do agree that is is bobbins that we buy games that are not necessarily finshed. I was playing a scenario mission last night and to be fair I usually don't pay much attention to bugs etc as long as the game is playable. I just reached a save point and then all of a suddenly a BMP windmills in and starts running over men etc. You can see the ai is trying to avoid them but in the process is knocking over fences getting stuck on sandbags and I was thinking to myself. A war simulator? High levels of realism?

To be fair though it is an amazing game with a huge amount of depth and given time will hopefuly have all its issues ironed out and holes plugged. I for one can wait.

Why is it that in armoury and training the game runs so much smoother?

I guess it is something to do with the amount of Units Buildings etc being rendered within the vicinity. Don't quote me but I guess that is the deal.
I notice the exact same and wish the whole game ran like that.

Question : At what point ( and who informs you ) of the fact that in Razor 2, Lopotev starts fleeing for the border?.

I have searched all over the internet and there appear to be loads of folk stuck on this particular mission who like myself, have ran around pretty much everywhere that has been mentioned in threads on this mission and still got nowhere. At no point has any message appeared saying that Lopotev is fleeing.

Those who have passed this mission point in the campaign, how on earth did you do it?. There must be someone somewhere who has passed this stage and I'd appreciate some tips because all I've been doing for the past 2 days is driving around in a HUMVEE looking at the countryside. Getting kinda boring now.

Mine came from zavvi at 7.30 this morning, currently at work posting on an iPod touch though, looking forward to tonight :)

i reinstalled the game and now my crossfire isn't working... I'm using the -winxp parameter!

Sucks as well cause I just clocked my cards to 960 / 1150 stable and wanna test it :(

Ah, I have free time tonight! Just dont go to Frankfurt!

I wish, it's a work thing with one of our suppliers, and my boss wouldn't be too happy if I didn't go, what with the tickets and car hire already paid for. Maybe I'll try and get some time off early next week in lieu, and have a long weekend.

I've done that mission three times now and it seems to be triggered after you search some of the marked areas including information given to you by locals. Not sure how many areas you need to search, but what I'd recommend is that you just use a Humvee and start searching the closest position you get from the officer at the Elektozavodsk base (three red crosses marked on your map). Also search Vyshnoye and any towns on route to the positions given to; sometimes you'll see them in the process of getting attacked or there are locals who you can talk to for information.

My first two attempts I got the message but couldn't find Lopotev or Bardak, but on the last attempt I actually got Bardak and what an awesome scene it was. I don't want to spoil it for everyone, but it involved jacking a car and going on fairly lengthy chase.

From what I've read I don't think you can actually find Lopotev, but I may be wrong.
