**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Can't believe Real Madrid have snatched Benzema from Man Utd.....

what a deal, I am a new Real Madrid fan this next season....

Would be funny if they just didnt click and they won nothing, but surely they are assembling an awesome team

I think it simply boils down to Man.U. not being able or willing to match the stupid wages RM are offering, except in the case of Tevez of course.

I dont think that will happen at all. Even with the woefull team they have had the last 3 years they still won it two of the last three years. For all the spleen venting people do over barca because of one of game against united Real have never been that far behind.

Granted Real have spent more on Ronaldo than Barca spent on the whole team that won the CL but I can't see Barca getting near them next year.

I dont think they would pay tevez the reported 140k either.

Real can sign all the 'stars' that they want. But it's gonna take a superb manager to get them working as a team and keep everyone happy.

I forsee some great upsets in my crystal sweaty ball.

If you believe the people involved in the situation (ie Tevez, KJ & Man.U. not the media) Tevez and his advisors/owners never once asked for more money, the package he was offered was great, it had nowt to do with money.

Hopefully, but the fans are in heaven at the moment.
50k of them turned out to see Kaka unveiled today, at least the same will meet Ronaldo & Benzema, it's a PR goldmine.

Whereas i think Barca will still push them very hard...sure they have all these superstar players but it would make me laugh if they cant play well together...also remember RM defense is pretty weak...so am quite surprised they havent signed any world class defenders...this past season Barca smashed 6 goals against them pretty easily.

But im definitely looking forward to seeing some La Liga games with RM as i think they will definitely be a force to be reckoned with...whether or not their new manager has what it takes for them to win the CL along with the La Liga and Copa del rey is another point altogether.

Barca wise id love to see them sign David Villa but i have a feeling Valencia want stupid money for him...

PR goldmine? its worth a lot of press space, but little money. Ok they'll sell a lot of shirts in a few days, but people would have bought shirts anyway, lets be honest, most big fans buy shirts, if they all get Gago, or Kaka, its the same amount of shirts. Now the thing is a huge name does sell more shirts in the likes of Asia where people are more likely to buy a shirt if its got their favourite player on it, but we're not really talking 10's of mils every single year from extra sales.

Its a case of Real might push barca harder this year, but frankly Henry on last seasons form is better than Kaka, Iniesta is better than Kaka. Frankly this only brings the Real offence up to the standard of Barca, not surpassing it, defensively Barca are stronger.

But Barca simply don't need Villa unless they get rid of Eto'o, 36 appearances, 30 goals, if he stays, they have their first team striker. Villa's not quite as good as people think either, he looked great in the Euro's, he looked almost awful in the confed cup.

Even though I don't think Real will walk the league, games like Barca vs Real will be pretty awesome in terms of whose on the field at the same time. Just praying they don't become stalemates, though with Real's defence(and barca's to a degree) its unlikely :p

Who the hell are Utd going to sign now :/

We know that a firm enquiry has been made for Douglas Costa but if your baulking at paying £16m up front for one of South Americas (supposed) best young talents then you might as well have broken the bank and gone for Benzema.

I think Fergie is really only has a few options open to him in who can play as either on the left or the right of a front 3 and that leaves Ribery or Aguero. The signing of Valencia will do little to appease the fans.

The reality is that Tevez can bitch and whine about the axe fell with the arrival of Berbatov. I think Berbatov's poor performances often overshadowed how poor Tevez's scoring record was last year in the eyes of the fans. Ronaldo for all his goals in the 2006-2007 is unlikely to repeat that again and lets be fair about it, the team had to sacrifice a hell of a lot last year to accommodate his own substandard performances. No Doubt Fergie will be looking to spread the goals and fill the team with 'team' players.

The Real Madrid situation is fascinating to say the least. They have spent the best part of €150m on 3 attacking players and there is still talk of Alonso and Ribery so if they come off that's €200m + before they even sign defenders they are so desperate for. One reporter said today they have probably spent their next 3 years transfer budget already. But what if it fails on the pitch ?? I have a feeling that Benzema may go the same way as Kluivert did when he went to Milan and out of the three signings thus far is the one most likely to fail. RM want their crown back as Worlds number 1 not only on the pitch but off it.

My only frustration is that whilst Utd have a debt to service and they do it sensibly, Platini and Blatter always castigate the Prem for it's success in the Champions League. Yet in one summer, RM weaken the Prem, Serie A and Legue 1 respectively and not a word is said

I can, Barca are a team. Real are a bunch of individuals with a relative unknown manager who even if he was the greatest manager in the world would still probably need at least a season to bed in all the new players and get them playing as a team.

Alas they dont have the greatest manager in the world and to be perfectly honest it's all very well having Kaka, Ronaldo & Benzema but none of them are going to do anything if they dont have a midfield that going to win the ball and pass it to them and a defence that can keep goals out at the other end.

What people are forgetting is that along with Kaka, Ronaldo & Benzema and who knows maybe still Ribery to add to it Real have still got Raul (who will never be dropped) Ruud, Higuain, Sneijder, Diarra x2 also at the club, not to mention those who are already spending time on the bench despite being relatively new signings themselves (Robben, Hunterlaar and Van Der Vaart I'm looking at you). There's no chance they're all going to leave this summer and there's obviously no way of playing them all and keeping them all happy and with that many discontent 'stars' that's surely going to have detrimental effect on the squad as well.

The Galactico's version one only actually won 2 league titles and 1 Champions League and IMO the individual's then were much bigger team players than this lot. Zidane, Figo, Makelele, Raul (in his prime), Ronaldo (original) were all class act's both in terms of ability and attitude, same cant really be said of Cristiano and from what I've seen/read Benzema. Kaka credit to him doesn't seem to fit into that category, probably why he's the one that Madrid fans are most glad of acquiring.

Call it wishful thinking but I cant see anything other than all this falling flat on it's face, a new manager in by January, disharmony in the squad and unfortunately a lot of the worlds best players seeing their career's going backwards which Barca stroll to another title.

Why does no one want to play for United?

premier league champions for the last 3 years and won 1 out of two champions league finals in the last two

wtf?

Why join Real Madrid anyway? To get embarrasingly beaten 4-0 by Englands 2nd placed team?.... crazy.

Well you could either go to the team that just sold one of the best players or you could follow that best player and several other best current players and play in the same team.

Manchester weather Vs Real Madrid weather...

High wage Vs Very high wage

Sounds like an easy choice to me :D

Yes I really feel sorry for them. All the best players in one team how will they cope?

Its not just shirts though. In most cases RM get anything upto 50% of the players image rights and sponsorship deals. I remember Sky crowing a few years back that they had the worlds two best forwards in the same league in Henry & RvN. Madrid have just bought 3 of the most coveted players in world football. It is a marketeers wet dream. Why do you think the banks have been so eager to lend Madrid the money to buy the players, commercially it is a safe bet and is unlikely to fail
