**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Are Man Utd fans getting worried at all? I think the prospect of Nani and Anderson getting regular play time next season is becoming more real and I don't think either of them are ready yet

Nope not at all,

On Anderson not that I would have a problem with him being a regular next season there's nothing to suggest at the moment he'll be ahead of Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes & if fit Hargreaves

On Nani as I've said previously said he showed enough in his first season for me to be confident enough that he'll end up good. As an Arsenal fan do you remember the FA Cup game when he tore you to shreds?

Players have good games, he has no consistency though, Man U fans see this.

He's like a **** version of Ronaldo when he first came to Man U.

Fair enough. I personally don't see a midfield consisting of:

Valencia - Carrick - Anderson/Giggs/Fletcher - Nani

.. challenging for the title. Maybe I'm wrong. Can't remember the FA Cup game, but I'll take your word for it

Consistency is the only thing that is lacking from his game, he's got no self confidence issues, he's got no marks against him in terms of goal scoring or his ability to pick out a pass/cross so the only thing that is missing from his game is his decision making and as you said consistency - both of which you would hope will improve given a run of games and of course age

Next season though as I've said all along will be make or break for Nani

Bar Ronaldo who didn't really play that well last season (albeit the goals were still there) that was our midfield last year and it was good enough to win us the league and get us to the Champions League final then so I dont see it being that much of a problem to be honest

Once again a tad harsh Mr atpbx. Utd used to get criticised for doing a lot of their deals in public and ultimately driving the price up and us paying an over inflated fee. Now we say nothing until a concrete bid is in place or the player has signed.

Although it's frustrating that our activity seems pedestrian, i'd much prefer the latter under Gill than the former under Martin Edwards or Peter Kenyon. Also if Benzema & Ribery were legitimate targets, do you really think that Fergie would be as naive to have just them players in his sights. They are marquee players and as we have seen the big clubs are interested in signing them.

It wouldn't suprise me one bit if a deal is put in place that would see Huntelaar and one from Robben/Van Der Vart or Sneijder join us. The fans only to hear about it once the deal has been agreed and the players are doing their medical

If there was past evidence that something like this could happen, then sure it would be great.
There is no evidence that anything like this will happen.
Also, why is there the automatic assumption that Huntelaar is going to be given his marching orders? Unless RM sign Villa, then they are still only going to be left with one capable striker if he goes.

Everytime I've seen him play recently I've had the feeling he's been trying to do the spectacular all the time, I don't know if that's his game or he was trying to showcase what he could do when he got minutes as he rarely got game time. The one thing that struck me though was that he was unforgivably greedy and made a lot of very poor and selfish decisions. He's obviously got good feet, the rest of his development is all in his head, if he can stop trying to impress everyone each time he gets the ball he may get somewhere

:) Think your defence won you the league last season and your midfield was poor. Without Ronaldo I can see it being exposed further

I have issues with Nani. As has been well documented his decision making and consistency(or lack of it) leaves question marks over him being a capable replacement. Same goes for Tosic as well.

As for Anderson, I have no problems with him at all albeit he would do better playing in his natural position which is more attack minded. My biggest worry for next year is that if our midfield is not strengthened with the return of Hargreaves then we will not win the league that simple. A fit Hargreaves will give license to Anderson to push on. Any question marks on him must be addressed now.

However this maybe another season for rebuilding yet another team. Scholes and Giggs must surely be peripheral figures this season. I personally think Scholes more than Giggs had one season too many last year. But if you invest the money we do in the youth set up then there has to come a time where you have to give the kids the opportunity to have a go at staking a claim in the team and you can't just do that in the early rounds of the league cup. We have good cover in the central area in Gibson & Possebon. The only true test of their quality is playing them in games.

Thats the whole point - without Ronaldo the midfield area will get BETTER, we may well score less Im not disputing that, but the midfield will work better and together rather all being focused around a stroppy and arrogant so and so who liked diving WAY too much

Carrick hasnt played 150 games in the centre of midfield for three seasons as a title winner without being real quality - with Fletcher and hopefully Hargreaves later in the season as the muscle and some artistry either side and ahead , there is no reason why Utd cant get a fourth title in a row (of coruse Chelsea and Liverpool will be there and thereabouts, but we arent that deficient to give it away either)

Personally think even a midfield of Gerrard, Alonso and Masch might have had a bad night in Rome last season - just because of how good the other side where that night . Anderson suffered that night no question, but against the majority of the EPL he is still a very able midfielder

edit - Im sorry but Ive had enough of Nani, I really wish he HAD been part of the Valencia deal, he doesnt deserve the shirt number imo

edit - Loki, Im sure Gibson is still transfer listed isnt he, or was that a viscious rumour? Didnt SAF say some time last season he was getting too big for his boots (excuse the pun lol). I know he is meant ot be gifted but I just havent seen that much to really impress. Possebon should get more games though, including a handful of home games against lower EPL sides to see how he does, with Anderson on the bench just in case. Totally agree with you regarding Scholes, Giggs should get around 10 games in a central position in the EPL but hopefully not many more

Only time will tell but personally I dont buy into that

Really? Who played well from your midfield over the course of last season? Vidic was your player of the year and if it wasn't for that run of clean sheets and 1 - 0's then you probably wouldn't have won the league. Your midfield lacked creativity, fluency, speed and venom which it had bags of in 07-08
