**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I hate that it's assumed that Arsenal are going to 'battle for 4th'. 1 poor season and still comfortably in 4th :/ Why has it become everybodies opinion that Arsenal are miles behind the rest of the top 4, if Wenger buys 1 or 2 more players then they'll have a very, very good first XI.

We will miss what ronaldo did for us but he was selfish. When you have a player that is selfish then the rest of the team assume that he will shoot on sight and then when he does decide to pass it isnt the killer ball because the rest of the team hasnt moved up so well with him. If he got 20 assists a season then I reckon he could have got 40 if he wasnt always trying to score himself the whole time. Hes an irreplacable player but life goes on and I will enjoy watching united without him.

Ronaldos absence will give us a chance to start playing as a team again more. We had a much better goal diff when we didnt have ronaldo running all the action.

At the end of the day this is all speculation and we could win everything next year without him or we could win nothing. Talking about it on here like there is a right or wrong answer is just stupid. Its all an oppinion.

Lol Fulham need some players. We released/sold; Moritz Volz, Collins John, Leon Andreasen, Olivier Dacourt, Julian Gray, Giles Barnes and Karim Laribi.

Why has it becomes everyone's opinion that without Ronaldo we're nothing? Why has it becomes everyone's opinion that it was solely our defence and attack that saw us win the title, reach 2 finals and a semi final.

Me assuming that Arsenal wont challenge for the title is no more my opinion than your is thinking what you do about us.

Only time will tell who's right and who's wrong

Because you havnt bought any new players and for a good chunk of last season you were in danger of being in 5th place. Arsenal didnt pull away from 5th place, 5th place dropped away from you with a lot of bad results. I hope you do challenge for the title next year, it would be great to have all 4 going for the title.

I think even now our best 11 are good enough to beat anyone. Provided we can get enough cover in case of injuries i don't see why we can't challenge again.

I think what people are mainly trying to say in regards to Man Utd is that their midfield won't be as good next season due to losing Ronaldo, Scholes obviously not good enough anymore, same with Giggs, and having no Hargreaves as an option. That midfield has been weakened, that's not opinion, it's just fact, less players, less quality.

But if you're talking facts then the fact is that over the two legs last season Arsenal were a million miles away from Man United hence why people are writing you off by default.

And getting back to your 'facts' on us how is it fact that Scholes' isn't good enough? He was good enough in 2007, he was good enough in 2008, ok so he had a bad season last season (which was helped by injury FYI) but who's to say he wont have a good season next season?

Giggs was awful in 2008 but last season rightly or wrongly won the PFA Player of the Year so regardless of whether or not he got it based on his service to the game or his actual performances what's to say Scholes wont have a similar impact next season? Maybe not playing every game but when he is played putting on a masterclass, like Giggs did against Chelsea for example.

What you and everyone else is saying is not fact it's your opinion, do you not think that if Scholes & Giggs really had nothing left to offer then the greatest manager of modern time wouldn't have the balls to sit them down and ship them out?

Meh, you're kidding yourself if you think that Giggs and Scholes are good enough and fit enough for regular Prem football and losing Ronaldo will make you stronger. I think I give in.

We could honestly do this all day

No regular football but definately substitutes or the occasional game. Giggs and Scholes should be ignored as players when we are looking to buy new ones. They are just there for a touch of experience rather than as a regular 1st team player.

I don't think Arsenal will unless more players are bought? And I don't think that more players will be bought, Arsene just won't get ripped off. We'll know by Friday!

Carrick wasnt bought as a goal scorer, even at Spurs he wasnt that frequent, so its a pointless comparison.

Last season Ronaldo got 6 assists - a MASSIVE amount no one can argue with  while completing 75% or more of our attacking moves, not to mention the huge % of free kicks just completely wasted rather than actually trying to set another player up.

I have no idea of the actual numbers, but I think its fair to say that Utd usually get far more free kicks than 1 a game - I would be surpised if it wasnt far off 3!! Yet how many of those actually tested the goalie or actually scored - a tiny fraction, yet time and time again he went for a direct shot.

Ronaldo was one of the WORST for tracking back, I have no idea at all how you can say he saved a lot of goals by doing that - certainly not in the last season or two.

I dont think you have watched a Utd game in about two seasons if you really believe what you post - its so far off the mark its untrue

Scholes isnt no - but I still think Giggs can play 1/3 - 1/2 ( 10 - 15 games) of the EPL season and give a good account of himself in the middle of the park
