**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Pretty sure Arsenal's pre-season has started so Wenger is already telling porkies

Pre season starts today, but several players won't come back yet (Walcott, Cesc, Gibbs etc). Wenger only said he 'hoped' to get the players in before pre-season.

Fab with a £40mill price tag??..id slap a £60mill price tag on him just to fend off interest and see who really wants him...id hate it if he went to Chelski or Man Utd but honestly cant see that happening as he will go back to Spain as he has said in the past either to RM or Barca.

I think Arsenal are resigned to the fact that he will leave us at some point...definitely could see him going if we dont win anything next yr and honestly i wouldnt blame him in the slightest..hell ill probably give up supporting Arsenal myself next yr if they dont start winning things:p:D
Arshavin i heard wants to finish his career at the club where he came from...cant remember the name lol...

Great news that Chelsea signed Zhirkov although I am not sure where he will play unless Cole or Malouda are dropped. Quite possibly Russia's best player and should do well in the premiership.

The Russia's best player award surely goes to Arshavin? :D:p

Better than Arshavin?

Come on Harry. Pull your finger out.

I know usually by this time in the summer you've signed god knows how many, you're not even being linked with anyone

Having said that continuing with what you have might be the best way forward for Spurs after so many seasons of having to bed in x amount of players into the starting line up

Isnt Cole refusing to sign a new contract after interest from Italy? hmm maybe you mean Joe in regards to this guy's wing ability rather than Cashley and his FB ability ;)

yes £40mil is frankly a steal, people are joking about Barca being mad to spend 40mil on a player who won't start, but look at Spain, INiesta and Xavi play, not much happens, Fabregas comes on, gets 4 assists, a goal, plays a key part in almost everything, he was FAR more effective than either of them. He'd start for Barca and a 40mil price tag is just asking for bids(if true).

I'd be happy to see him go though as he's pretty much my favourite player and is being utterly wasted in the current Arsenal team thats declining year by year. The Wenger talk of "starting from scratch" if it doesn't work this year has the bejesus scared out of me, one main position changed between last year and the year before, DM, and he hasn't fixed it yet and seems oblivious to it being the problem, if we fail to get a Dm and the team fails, he's going to rebuild from scratch because he's blind??????

I assume from scratch simply means, get rid of everyone old, keep the youth, buy more youth, be crap.

Ade for any money is a necessity, since we've had him our counter attacking is basically a joke. We've got no pace in the squad, a million central players and no real wide players.

Lose Ade and we have 3 natural finishers/upfront strikers in Eddie, Vela, Theo. RVP, Arshavin, Nasri, Bendtner all being best in the support striker position, and no wingers, so sell Ade, get a DM, and a winger or two in and we'll be golden.

Arsenal need to sign a midfielder (whats going on with toure's brother?) and a defender or two sharpish imo :/

Arsene has already signed a defender and Gallas should be fully fit for the season start. In regards to the CM, I think Melo is the target.

I don't get what all the fuss about Fibreglass is about? He's a good player, sure but £40 million...get out of town. He's not even a regular in his national side.

He's an excellent player and is the best young midfielder in the world without debate. In a few years he'll be the best CM in the world, and worth more than 40m.

Edit - He's not in his national side because the 2 current best CM's in the world are Spanish too, Xavi and Iniesta, you already knew that though ..

He is very good but 40m is far far too much. He doesn't score enough, is a bit weak in the tackle and I haven't seen him totally boss a game on his own. 40m on potential is a big risk.

If Ronaldo is worth 80m then Fabregas is worth 40m. I don't know what he's worth, but I'm just considering some other ridiculous fees this summer. If his price was 40m, you can bet that Barca/Real/City/Man Utd?/Inter/AC would all be involved in a bidding war for him.
