IMO you couldn't be more wrong.
There aren't many players play Ronaldo so well as Cole does. Nor score from midfield the way Lamps does. Bosingwa was a revelation last season, Chelsea didn't perform as well as they should because Essien was injured for a lot of the season. Drogba on form is completely unplayable and Terry is the best English centreback.
Cech, for me, is a little dodgy since his injury, however he's still a top keeper. None of the other English sides can match Chelsea on paper. I firmly believe that had they the coaching staff they finished last season with they'd be clear favourites for the title. Especially with Zirkhov added to the squad.

I didn't say they're not good. They just don't have the qualities of those I have mentioned. Any one of the players I listed would be a fantastic club captain. (With the exception of Arshavin atm). I just don't think Bosingwa, Cole etc would.

You don't need to be a leader to be a special player
Messi and Ronaldo are two of the best players/performers in the world over the past 2 years, I wouldn't put either of them near the armband.
Depends how you define special tbh
But if being in the top 3 in the world at your position in the world doesn't warrant being called 'special' I don't know what does
Just because the LB and RB I listed don't score lots of goals or get many assists (bosingwa does) It doesn't mean they aren't doing just as important a role defensively.

Back on topic, regardless of 'teams on paper' I think this year will be even tighter than last year. The top three are so evenly matched now.

I see no reason why Messi or Ronaldo wouldn't be worthy of an armband at the right club. Loyalty and attitude is priority over all though so in United, there were better candidates as in Barca, Puyol is a fantastic CB and has been a loyal servant.

With a few more years of experience, and a bit more maturity, why not?
Well for starters he doesn't set a good example.
Diving, having hissy fits on the pitch and at times choosing not to be a team player.
As good a professional Messi is, he doesn't seem to have the personality required to be a captain. (Not that Messi is my best mate
)
