**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I agree to an extent that he's not as effective as he could be at the minute, but you can't ignore that he dragged the entire team through a full month and was the leagues top assist maker, that's pretty damn good for somebody who didn't play a full season. There's a few things about his game which I think COULD improve but they don't need to. The main one is after his first touch he spends 5 seconds getting the ball onto his left foot!

You'll never be able to take that instinct out of him tho. What makes him deadly is his ability to turn a man inside out onto his left foot then fire a shot into the bottom corner of the net. You dont wanna be telling him any different tbh! Let him do his stuff.

isn't really a great playmaker, lol, utterly ridiculous. Other than being our best player all year, and playing a significant part in most goals while he's on the pitch, no, not a playmaker at all.

overall 50 starts, 30 goals, 14 assists, in the league it was 24 starts, 11 goals, 10 assists. Sure sounds like he's a playmaker to me with 10 assists in 24 starts. 50 starts and 10 sub appearances also to me sounds like a very full season. Not starting in the league had more to do with suspensions, resting after internationals, playing a lone striker setup all too often which obviously isn't his strength and being careful to not let him end up playing 80 games in his first uninjured year.

Spurs was probably the best performance of the year, involved massively in everything, absolutely every attack went through him. He scored or assisted all the goals, and the team fell apart the very single second he was subbed.

You're the absolute last person on these boards to be lol'ing at anybody, the amount of pure **** you talk in one season could fill the Emirates.

You can make stats say anything, quite often the playmaker isn't actually the one who gets the assist as he is further back in the chain ...especially with Arsenals goals. He still isn't a Bergkamp type support striker but with the way you rate Bergkamp it seems like you've started watching football since about 3yrs ago so i'm not surprised you think RvP is superior as i doubt you've ever seen the original Dutchie do his magic on the pitch live.

So he might have had a better season injury wise but he still only started in 24 games out of 38, he still isn't exactly a warrior is he.

This has been one of the problems of the squad, they're just not tough enough to challenge for the whole season it seems.....you can't take 6 weeks off at any period and expect to remain competitive.

Surely Eto'o is too old and too expensive for Ferguson to buy, he never looks as hot against English teams either, still he's obviously a great player but in this climate, £20m+ on a 29 year old (I think?) is just a bit much.

Edit, he's only 28, suppose he has 3 good years left, bit odd how none of the other big teams have really been in for him though, think he demands huuuuge wages
