Maybe clubs are recognising that trend too? Apparantly Arsenal's chairman rejected offers from the largest shareholder (a Uzbekistani billionaire) to flood the club with money for transfers, preferring to keep the club operating within its means.

I don't believe Usmanov is the largest shareholder now. Kroenke purchased some more on Friday, and is just below the 30% needed before he has before he has to make on offer on the rest of the shares.
Usmanov is a **** end of story. A murdering rapist who supports Man Utd, I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of his fat ugly mouth. He wouldn't pass the fit an proper persons test if the FA did a shred of research.
Anyway I don't believe the apparent lack of money is the reason for lack of transfer activity, I just believe Wenger would prefer not to spend silly amounts of money, I mean £18m on Glen Johnson, the Worlds gone made.
