**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Maybe clubs are recognising that trend too? Apparantly Arsenal's chairman rejected offers from the largest shareholder (a Uzbekistani billionaire) to flood the club with money for transfers, preferring to keep the club operating within its means.

Not sure how'd Arsefans'd feel about that though... :D

I don't believe Usmanov is the largest shareholder now. Kroenke purchased some more on Friday, and is just below the 30% needed before he has before he has to make on offer on the rest of the shares.

Usmanov is a **** end of story. A murdering rapist who supports Man Utd, I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of his fat ugly mouth. He wouldn't pass the fit an proper persons test if the FA did a shred of research.

Anyway I don't believe the apparent lack of money is the reason for lack of transfer activity, I just believe Wenger would prefer not to spend silly amounts of money, I mean £18m on Glen Johnson, the Worlds gone made.

Could have had Eboue for less than that!

Have to say I've never liked John Terry, all his talk of the Premiership being their trophy even after only winning it twice really got my back up as a United fan but I always respected his loyalty to Chelsea having just flicked SSN on to see that he's keen to talk to City regarding their interest in him has made me lose all that respect. I guess if those reports are true then it just sums up the modern footballer, despite already earning enough to live off for the rest of his life they still want more - the greedy ********

Those reports aren't true, it's football fans like you who the crappy media love as you actually believe their tripe:)

JT has said he wants to finish his career at Chelsea (2/7/09) and Chelsea have said twice in recent weeks he's not for sale at any price.
The gutter press ignored it on the main.

I did say 'if'

Regardless of that there does appear to be something in this story as if there was absolutely no chance he was for sale/would consider leaving then the story would have been dead ages ago but instead it's dragging on and on

If I were a Chelsea fan until I see a televised interview where he assures everyone he has no intention of leaving then I'd be a little bit worried that there are something in the stories

The only thing in this story is that the press have conveniently ignored the statements from the player and the club.

You've now "lost all the respect you had for him and now think he's a greedy ********"

The gutter press owns you.

Why doesn't Terry contact Sky Sports News now and say "this is a load of tosh", it'll take him five minutes and everything will go away? It's been dragging for days and days now. Same with Tevez, how long does he need!!!?

How many times does someone have to say things like this?

Chelsea and Terry moved swiftly to reject the latest speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City in the summer - although the London club confirmed City made an enquiry late last year.

Media reports suggested that Terry was 'disillusioned' at the club and while the Blues recognised City had expressed interest, Chelsea made it plain they were not willing to sell.

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon said: "We made it very clear that John was not for sale. We did not entertain any further conversation on the subject and nor will we in the future. John is our captain and the captain of England. He is part of the heart and soul of Chelsea."

Chelsea have been waiting to put an end to speculation over Terry's future for some time and decided to issue the statement after the latest media reports.

Terry had been kept fully informed of City's interest but the defender made it clear to the club at the time that he had no intention of moving on.

Now the England captain hopes his latest comments will end any notion of him leaving.

"Chelsea told me what had happened with the enquiry as a courtesy," said Terry. "I was very happy with their reaction as mine would have been the same.

"I have always said that I want to end my career at the club which I love and we all see no reason why that cannot happen.

"Given recent events I am more determined than ever to make Chelsea successful again."

Yes that's an oldish quote but nothing has changed since except Citeh offering more money.

john terry is a disgrace as a chelsea fan there is nothing worse then to see a player pretend he loves the club then to milk its funds for all he can lampard was a disgrace for saying he always knew he wanted to sign due to the loyalty the players showed when his mum was dead when if this was the case he wouldnt have haggled over a measely 20,000 these 2 are a right bunch of pricks its about time chelsea fc showed that no player is bigger then the club replace him if need be but dont be dictated to hopefully we'll sign zlatan then we will be a force for anyone next season without drogba or with

This is one of these posts that i fully expect to get shot down in flames! Make of it what you will. There is a guy on another message board who i am in regular contact with for footy related banter. Since the end of the season he has been in contact with someone who seems to know everything thats going on at City.
He told me about Hart being loaned out and Taylor coming in when no-one saw it coming. He had RSC as a done deal before it was confirmed in the press and also Citys contact with Tevez – a deal which he has said will be wrapped up early next week.
Anyway about a week ago i got an email from him saying “watch out for John Terry going to City, They are prepared to pay stupid money and Terry isn’t dismissing it”. He then emailed me in the middle of the week saying if Terry doesn’t get to talk to City he is going to hand in a transfer request. This morning i hear that Terry is rumoured to want to talk to City.
I fully TOTALLY understand why most people will say “bloody rubbish” and i probably would myself but this guy does seem to be spot on with other stuff. Certainly he has got enough right for me to say this story shouldn’t be dismissed. Time will tell but its interesting stuff.
As an aside he has also said that City are looking at a big move for an Arsenal striker who i reckon most Arsenal fans would be happy to see the back off!
Anyway don’t shoot the messenger, i just thought i would share it anyway

if terry hands in a transfer request he will be showing what he is as a man time will tell i hope your wrong but it wouldnt surprise me i still believe man city will do jack **** next season tho

I meant Kroenke, I saw the story about him buying more shares and it said that remark about him offering more funds under it. It's odd that he's a naturalised American businessman now, funny trend in the Premiership eh?

I can't see Terry signing for City, but I do think its poor that Terry hasn't really fully dismissed the rumours.

If Terry does leave I agree with EpicCarnage, I think its appalling that so many players care that much about the difference between, for example, £100,000 and £120,000. I can understand a player wanting to feel valued by the club and be on the same level as the other players at that club, but the way so many players seem to hold their club to ransom nowadays is terrible.

How can he come out and dismiss all the rumours?

That would start off a whole world of trouble with players having to come out every week and confirm or deny everything that was written about them.

He's not done anything wrong so why should he come out and say anything.
