**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Just like Barry.

Sorry but Barry made it clear he wanted to go to a club with more ambition and a better chance of winning things, he did so. He was fully willing to go to Liverpool and Benitez, pretty much knowing the cost decided to unsettle the player and hope the club would drop the value rather than have a player that wants out.

This year, LIverpool didn't match City's cost, Barrys choice was stay at a club with little cash that won't ever win the league or move to City, I know what I'd have done, and what 98% of players would have done. Its more money, sure but it was his only choice for a move and clearly to a more ambitious more capable of competing club. Not sure how anyone can have a go at him for that. He'll get first team footie at a team that has a bigger chance of the title than Villa and a geniune, and very large chance at champs league and the title the year after.

If its true we end up with 22mil it will be great, could only complain that we didn't get 30mil last year while we could have and bought Arshavin at the start of the season along with a DM or two last year. ALso agree on Senna, we should have bought him pre EUro's last year to be perfectly honest. He's quality and his game doesn't rely on pace and shows no signs of getting worse. Players like him, Gilberto, age isn't a huge deal, infact we would get him cheaper than if he was 22 but still probably get 5 years out of him either way before he either retired/moved on. I don't think there would be many better pairs than Senna/Fabregas to be honest, can't see any chance of it happening though.

I think there would be many better pairs to be honest. While I think Fabby is a good player, he's not some world class amazing orgasmic player you often make him out to be.

There are far better players then Fabby, far worse, but still far better.

Barry went to Manchester City for the money imo, he's not a young player, picking up one last pay day, one last really big contract. He's moved, from the club that was challenging for a Champions League spot last season, to a team that weren't. Thats almost a step down. Yes I know Manchester City are a club with potential, but there are a lot of changes happening at that place, I'm not 100% convinced that they'll do much this coming season.

So City's front 6 next year (assuming they are playing a back 4) is going to have to picked from:

Midfield:

Elano
Stephen Ireland
Vincent Kompany
Nigel De Jong
Gareth Barry
Sean Wright-Phillips
Michael Johnson
Stylian Petrov

Strikers:
Robinho
Craig Bellamy
Roque Santa Cruz
Benjani
Caicedo
Carlos Tevez
Emmanuel Adebayor (potentially).

That is what i call a selection headache.

As much as it pains me to say it, that's the makings of what I would call a potential title winning team.

Don't understand why they aren't signing any defenders what so ever though.

I think Manchester City have a lot of problems with keeping everyone happy and playing.

I don't see them challenging top four. They have good players, there are still better teams.

With Dicky Dunne and Micah "Bling" Richards at the back, i'm not worried. City werent bad attacking last year, it's just their defence was too busy tripping over their pay cheques to tackle anybody.

Same except i'd swop de jong for kompany

I suspect Barry will start on the left and then either Tevez or Elano will start on the right, with Santa Cruz and Robinho upfront. I cant see the Adebayor signing coming off.

De Jong and Kompany to sit in midfield,

Why would they play a CM and a link up striker on the wings? They will most likely play an AC Milan Christmas Tree formation imo :)

De Jong Barry Ireland
Robinho Tevez
Adebayor

That would be my pick anyway.
