**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Yes you know more than me because you compare a goalie to a winger/striker lol

Again you jump in without even bothering to read what I said. We were comparing the estimated VALUE of the player not their POSITIONS. Do you understand?

So do you understand how your point doesnt stand as you do not even understand what we are talking about.

Read what we were talking about and then make a comment rather than try and pick fault and be clever. Then you wont end up looking silly. You are starting an arguement that wasnt there, drawing stupid comparisions about positions when no one even mentioned that subject.

The arguement you are........trying to make, is entirely dependent on comparing like for like.
I made an extreme expample of how far of the mark you were with the Ben Foster comparison, but I make the usual mistake when it comes to arguing on here of assuming the person I'm arguing agaisnt has a mental age higher than 5 years.
One minute you are saying Y must be worth more than X because he is MILES better than X you then get told, no he isnt, because Y doesnt play in the same position as X, how can you quantify that statement when they are not comparable?

The argument YOU should be making, rather than being obnoxious and unpleasant, is Arshavins respective value agaisnt a similar player.

You cant quantify the difference between what Carrick does and what Arsharvin does, and then put a value on what that difference is, and then state who is worth more finacially in comparison to the other.

Quote me when I said I am making a comparision like for like with arshavin and Carrick. So how is that MY arguement? You need to use the facts for an arguement. Not make your own up based on what you read into a sentence.

People have been comparing players values in all different positions based on Ronaldos value. Does that make them all wrong and you right?

The prices are set by what people are paying at the time. Kaka and Ronaldo are examples of this. If RM paid £30m for kaka do you think Ronaldo would have gone for £80m, probably not. Do you think Ade would be going for £25-30m after the season he had? John Terry being quoted as £40-£60m. Lescott for £15m.

So they are comparing prices based on players in different positions.

This thread is based on opinions and you didnt like mine, tough really. But I dont think you are going to change my opinion by saying im wrong you're right without any facts to base your opinions on.

That is just being ignorant.

I made the Arshavin and Carrick comparison, he was just the only player who I remembered that has recently been sold for £15m, what I rated Carrick at, there was nothing more in it!

Liverpool will intensify their efforts to sign David Silva, the Valencia playmaker, with Xabi Alonso expected to complete a £32 million move to Real Madrid next week.

The Spain midfield player is not expected to travel with the Liverpool squad for their pre-season tour to Asia tomorrow night. Real Sociedad, who sold Alonso for £10.5 million in August 2004, stood to receive 20 per cent of the transfer fee, but that agreement is scheduled to expire today.

It was unclear last night whether Wesley Sneijder, Real’s attacking midfield player, would be used as a makeweight in the prospective transfer.

Well...got to say...if we have to lose Alonso, I would be very happy with David Silva and Wesley Sneijder. Bit more depth.

Agreed. Alonso is a great player but we do lack attacking options in midfiled. Especially since we normally only play one upfront.

How do you guys rate Crouch?

It's looking like it's gonna be between him and Negredo who we sign.

Negredo has a return of about 1 goal in every 2.7 games whereas Crouch is every 2.9 games with Crouch having almost double the number of appearances.

I rate him very highly have watched him a number of times at Liverpool. Accomplished finisher, great technical ability and half decent in the air. Only his lack of speed and strength let him down. Edit: Needs a run of games to get some form which also counts against him. Not a player to bring off the bench to win you matches imo.

Given Defoe seems to be the only striker certain of a place in your team next season and him and Crouch formed a great partnership at Portsmouth why not recreate that at Spurs? Can definitely see why Harry would want him.

*Awaits he's lanky therefore crap comments from the experts* Edit: See below.

I don't rate Crouch.

I think he's very average techically, compared to other strikers in the League.
He's finishing is fairly average, What I can't get over is his lack of quality in the air, he's 6ft 6 and his heading should be his bread and butter.

He is often over powered by defenders, half due to his complete lack of pace and his complete lack of strength on the ball. He's struck me as being very "jammy" for England.

Now, you see, I said exactly this on a Spurs forum earlier and got lambasted for it.

And even more so for saying Ibrahimovic is over-rated.

He can't jump. That's mainly why he doesn't get on every cross.
