**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Looks like Fulham have accepted Hull's bid for Zamora.

Could Crouch be on his way to Fulham?

That happened a few days ago when on tour in Australia.

If you lot are definitely in for Crouch, you'll get him. Looks like Fulham signing Riise's younger brother tomorrow (apparently anyway). Also still linked with Negredo, but i just want some signings, first game in about 10 days :/

And it's a load of ****e that people say Crouch brings about long ball play. I challenge you to find one long ball to Crouch in the last 3 games of Pompey's season.

When players get tired in a game they search him out, Everton used to do it with ferguson as well. Regardless of how well they can play on the deck they look for the easiest option. England do it far too often especially with crouch.

Not a great signing.

If I was in Crouch's position, I'd choose Fulham over Spurs.

Europe, regular starts, less egotistical fans who will call for your head if you haven't scored for 30mins.

OK I was looking for videos of him actually doing good stuff. He looks really good in all of the build up play, great touch etc. But when it comes to finishing, he is god awful :p

Hopefuly there is no substance to the rumour then, that video had quite a collection of complete **** ups in.

Surprised there hasn't been more speculation about Martins? Seems like he would be a good signing for most Premiership clubs outside the top 4?

Yeah, but you can afford the wages, the only reason i think we're in for Crouch is because we've released/sold players, saving probably close to £50k/week, as well as last year loans. So we can JUST probably give him the wages. He'd be our highest paid player if he gets £70k/week, by about £30k :/

I highly doubt we'd pay him those wages.

King, Woodgate and Keane are said to be our highest earners on about the same.

We have a very tight wage structure.

That and he'd only have to score 2 goals to match Zamora's last season, assuming he scores 4 he'll be a revelation at Fulham :p

Haven't watched the video, but in general I want a player to try rather than wimp out like Ade. Trying means you fail sometimes, such is life, the best players in the world, the Ronaldo's, Henry's, all **** up constantly, because they always try, thats how it works. Ade may or may not be terrible I don't know, with his back to goal most of the time he recieves a pass and rather than try to turn and run at goal, he'll take the safe option to midfield, Hleb was like that. These are players with high pass completion rates, because they always take the safe option. You don't win titles passing back to midfield and never trying.

RVP has some of the funniest screwup's around, he's caught nothing but air quite a few times at Arsenal and ended up swinging around in the air and landing on his ass a bunch of times, but he tries, sometimes with similar shots he scores, Ade never scores those goals, because he just doesn't try.

The best players aren't afraid to try and have the confidence to not be so afraid of failure they don't bother. Theo Walcott, so often rather than use his pace to blast past someone he decides to go the safe pass route, because he's too timid and scared of looking like a fool.

Can't think who it is, but he's constantly critising Ronaldo for taking freekicks which don't score. If he never took them, he'd never score, everyone whose scored a freekick has missed 20 more that were embarassingly poor. Gerrard scores some belters from 30yards, but the majority of his 30yard shots are no where near, but you don't score without trying.

Its me.

And its the fact that its ALWAYS a shot at goal, no matter where the kick is taken from, time again the defenders would trudge up the pitch for a ball loaded into the box, and time and time again the ball would go flying wide, over, or into the wall.
Most of the time there were better options, or even worse, better players at taking free kicks from certain positions.

Crystal ball? or plonker? :D

He's expressed a desire to stay at St. James' Park and help fight for promotion, but apparantly only Olympiakos have been interested in him. No word on any Premiership side sniffing around him, but given his performances last year I wouldn't blame them (and I don't think it was entirely the team surrounding him either).
