**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I'm not going to say he's worth Eto'o plus 50m euros because he's probably not, but he did match Eto'o's goal tally while playing in a much worse team.

I think he'll probably score the same amount of goals as Eto'o at Barcelona and add an extra dimension with his strength, which I mentioned early.

I reckon he's probably worth more than Eto'o but maybe not 50m euros more.

But he didn't match his goal tally, in either league or total, he was a significant amount behind him in goal tally while playing more games. Eto's also scored at at a generally very high goal/game ratio and wasn't too far ahead of normal. Zlatan had an outstanding season, almost 50% more goals than his 2nd best season, and he still scored almost 30% less than Eto'o.

Given a full season Eto'o looks like he'd be averaging very high 20's or low 30's, Zlatan's average is closer to the mid/high teen's.

Personally while I think Eto'o can pass well and move well, he's a finisher and thats his main task, he doesn't do fancy stuff just gets the ball and puts it int he net. Zlatan is a far more creative player who really would play great with an Eto'o style finisher along side him. Thing is, Barca already have a LOAD of creative types and only one real out and out finisher in Eto'o. Zlatan to me seems like another player in the mould of many players they have, while they don't have any more Eto'o types.

I think the signing is more because he was one of the biggest names available and the fans don't seem to "love" Eto'o and they were desparate for a huge signing to compete with Real's signings. Barca should keep Eto'o and strengthen their defence frankly.

Zlatan can't do badly though, the teams simply too good and creates too many chances, he could have a "bad" season and still score 15-20 goals easily.

Would any Man City fan, or anyone else for that matter be able to shed some light on Ched Evans? Look's like SUFC are buying him for a reported £3m. Is he any good? Worth that?

Harry Redknapp has dismissed reports linking Aston Villa with an interest in midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

He said: "I have never heard a thing from Aston Villa. I don't know where those stories keep coming from. No one has ever contacted us.

"I don't want to sell Jermaine Jenas, he is a terrific player. We don't want to sell our best players."

Rumours stoke are to announce 3 signings at once, Dunne, Ashton and that guy from Sunderland.

Whiteheads steady, but unspectacular, he will run all day and through a brick wall if you asked him to..he also never hides no matter how bad things are going for the team

he scored a few goals for us in the championship and can get forward but doesnt have great pace...set pieces are not great either but agin he has scored a couple for us...him and lawrence have played together previously and should link up well

he proved a good servant for sunderland and we got great value for not a lot of cash

I think he will do well for you if he goes, hes not a match winner but hes the sort of player every club needs, hes a grafter who does lots but you never seem to notice.

ashton? I wonder how many games he will play

Dunne (richard?)I will be suprised at, seeing as man city have not accepted any bids for him..and I know sunderland are interested in him but no bids have been accepted

Who you support mate?

He's a Liverpool fan:)
.

:D

Everton, I quite fancied Park at Everton, but Ferguson clearly sees his future as the perfect replacement for Ronaldo ;)

If Liverpool re-sign crouch, there should be mass sackings at the club because clearly no one can make a decent call in the transfer market and actually decide if he was any good or not in the first place.

I can't see it myself, a stupid move that makes it look like the club really doesn't have a clue who to buy and sell other than a lucky dip.

That can't be true, buying him back would be as daft as the Keane affair.

I agree completely with both comments. Would be right up there with the Keane transfer.

Although he didn't do badly for Liverpool.

I never wanted Crouch to go, I thought he was excellent for us. I also believe that if we had kept Crouch we would have won the league last year.

He scores goals, he's a completely different option to our normal style and he has really good feet. He's like what Heskey does what Heskey used to get praised for, but well better.

If we got Crouch and Silver I'd be pleased

Still very, very poor and unable to compete on any level in the transfer market.

Shame its getting very close now with kick off approaching. I guess we will have to wait until January for anyone else.

Lets hope that no one else gets injured over the next month

Anyone heard these rumours about Cana? I cant find a source but they are talking about it in chat rooms. He does look exactly like what we need if it is true. If nothing else he looks entertaining with his flying tackles lol Not so good at shooting on target tho lol

Woodgate played in 34 out of 38 Prem games for Spurs last season plus 10 other games in the cups, that's 44 in total. I think he's proved himself in his first full season since he joined us?

Chimbonda is a liability at CB and Corluka is just too slow. Considering Redknapp has just come out and said our main priority is a new CB I doubt that ;)

Corluka may be a little slow, but his positional sense is very good which makes up for it for the most part. I wouldn't want to see Chimbo start there ever but he is an option against pacey strikers.

The 2 big question marks for me are Huddlestone and Dervite:

Huddlestone has some awesome attributes, his movement and mobility always gets called into question in midfield. I think if he learns better positioning he could be an brilliant ball playing CB capable of taking the ball out of defence and launching counter attacks.

Dervite was bought when he was 17 and touted as the next big thing, he has captained up to the under 19's French national team and is now in their under 21 squad. At 6'3" he has the height and more importantly already has the physique of a top CB. It will be very interested to see how Dervite handles Barcelona, I think he could be an awesome player if given the chance to blossom; and this injury crisis could be it. :)
