A battlefield2 thread

Just reinstalled BF2 again today, kind of getting bored with COD4.

Anyway came accross the 1.5 patch beta2, has anyone tried it?

- Added Highway Tampa as a required map.
- Added a new map called Operation Blue Pearl.
- Added support for Widescreen resolutions
 
Believe the latest is now beta3 and that there will be one more closed beta before the final release. They also recommend installing the betas over 1.41 and not each other, so avoid that beta2.

I've been using beta 3 ever since it came out and the psuedo widescreen mode is welcome. Full HD resolution on BF2. (well as near as dammit with 4 year old code)

the final 1.5 patch release is imminent. Reading over at the EA Forums there is some kind of political wrangling over one part of its content that will benefit players. The few developers working on the patch want it in but their "boss" is sceptical.

Sounds mysterious.
 
Yeah the w/s will be welcome means, I can stop running the fixer which sometimes I forget to do. Hoping the nocd makes the final as well.

They just need to get it our as soon as really but obviously well tested as I think I'd rather they left it as is than totally mess it up.

I belive there's a beta 3!
 
I think the latest full patch will be out quite soon now, some office politics are the only delay.

It's been hinted that there may be some 'extras' thrown in :)
 
Well, the rumours/wishful thinking are that the community have been asking them to include AF/EF for free and make them a compulsory part of the patch. The reason being that no one is really buying them any more and for those that did there are not really any servers to play them on. This way it also makes up for the disappointment of only having one (two if you include Tampa) new map coming with the patch.

Can't really see it myself as this is EA we are talking about but as someone who runs a server this would be awesome for us as it'd give us many more maps to play about with in the rotation.

Would make the patch pretty massive though! :eek:

I just realised why I was so damn accurate with sniper rifles before and then sucked......i changed from 1680x1050 to 1920x1200...... hmmm

Well as someone who has the AF/EF packs, there are 2 outstanding maps, Road Rage and Great Wall, it would be great to have more players for these under used maps.....at best you will only find 2 or 3 regular servers with these maps..:(

Not played them for ages but seem to remember liking Operation Harvest as well. But iirc they're all good enough to mix in and out of the rotation for a bit of variety.
 
Just been looking at the BF2 stats board and noticed the top UK player.....

Is this score really credible?....

According to this he joined Bf2 on 23/07/08 and has played 6348hrs!!!!!

That means in about 400 days he has played for 16hrs solid EVERY day and scored an average of 2130 points a day!!!!!!!!!!

I dont think its a credible score.....do you?.

Possibly a shared account for the hours, canrt explain the points however
