Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

Another site i looked at had and eta of the 9th next month so i would'nt be surprised if thats when OCUK's stock shows up.
 
Got mine today, slightly lower temps then my Fenrir but a lot quieter.
Case temp 25c
2 fans exhausting, stock fan pulling a Noctua fan pushing (not optimal as Noctua is a few 100rpm slower then stock fan but doe's lower temps over just having stock fan)
I faffed about when fitting it too so the thermal paste (used MX-2) distribution might not be great.

1.280v seem too high to me ? Can you push the vcore down to 1.25v in bios might see your lower temperature.
 
Bulldog, we don't all have cherry picked processors mate.. 1.280v Vcore is fine, as is 75c on the hottest core...

However, if you can get the Vcore down a little bit more and still have a stable o/c then that is always a good thing! :)
 
Well I recieved my Corsair H5O today. First impressions are that it seems reasonably well built, its compact, quiet although I've got a question about the pump - more on that a bit further down. The tubes are a bit stiff although you can flex them a certain amount. Installation was reasonably straight forward although there were a few fiddly moments. Right on to the comparison tests. For the tests, I used the Prime95 Blend test for 1 hour. I was initially using a Prolimatech Megahalems in push pull with 2 Noctua P12's running at around 900rpm, and MX-2 for thermal paste. Case is a Silverstone Fortress. Test was run in the morning with an ambient temp of 19.5c

Max temps were 53-48-47-47.

The Corsair H5O was set up in push pull with 2 Noctua P12's running around 900rpm but were exhausting out of the case rather than as intakes as Corsair advise. The pre-applied paste was cleaned off of the pump/cold-plate and MX-2 was used again for thermal paste. Ambient temp was 20.5c at the time of the test.

So by going off of the temps, in my situation the Corsair H5O was worse than the Prolimatech. Now I don't know whether that's down to the ambient being higher, a poor mount as it was a little fiddly attaching the pump to the bracket or whether the Corsair really does need the fans in an intake position to perform well.

Now on to the pump. Does anyone else who has the Corsair find that the pump makes a quiet buzzing type sound? It almost sounds like the buzz you get from a transformer. I'm not sure whether this is normal or not as I thought the pump was meant to be 'silent'? Oddly, it seems to almost disappear as the pump assembly warms up.

Apparantly OcUK said they had 700 sitting in customs which was obviously a load of BS to get more pre orders which annoys me since they'd shown up in stock now. A Corsair rep also told me the EU doesn't even have 700 allocated to the whole of it nevermind one retailer due to a screw issue.

I noticed jon20 a while back another member here, Rab, who has basically the same system as me, run his q9550 with the same voltage as myself at 3.8ghz, he has the h50, im on a TRUE black, the difference in our temps were 1-2c, probably not the best comparison as ambient temp and case, case fans and airflow will come into play but it basically shows that the h50 is at least on a par with high end air cooling on s775 setups, cant comment on i7 as i havent got mine built yet.
 
I think the screw issue was to do with the screws that attach the contact plate to the pump not being flush with the plate on some units. This stopped the pump/plate from seating correctly.

Mine makes a buzzing noise but only if i put my ear next the case can i hear it.

I notice there is 4c difference in the idle temps, and a degree difference in ambient temps which would probably account for the slight difference in temps between the MEGAHALEMS AND H50, what was the case temp..?
I would think that if you tested them in the oppposite order the result might be H50 slight edging the megahalems, but tbh its so close as not to matter.

My H50 used to hum slightly when it first booted up, but I have had mine over a month now and is "silent", no humming or anything. I cannot hear it at all now.

I also have mine exhausting out of the case as I found the temps were slightly better and imo it seems strange intaking air in the way corsair advise. I have a HAF932 case which has great airflow. I use 2 x Apache 1300rpm in push/pull.
 
bobbyboy uk,it's supposed to perform better with the corsair logo upside down & the pipes at the top.:)
