Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

Think your getting yours from where i got mine,i can see why they arn't getting a rush as they have listed them in the air cooler section & not the water cooling section, unless they have now changed that.

Surely turning the case upside down would have turned the radiator upside down too?

This is getting more and more bizarre. We now have a £60 cooler with a heat-source directly above the CPU (the pump) and a single, thin, 120mm radiator that is outperforming custom systems costing 8 times as much with 6 times the heat dissapation area? It does seem just a bit too good to be true.

Anyway, I have ordered one from a competitor that has plenty of stock and it will be here on Tuesday. And I've ordered a NorthQ Siberian Tiger from the same source as well. Oddly, they've not seen a big rush on either of these units and there's no big fuss about these on other forums.

And if you turn it upside down, it improve the performance by approximately 8%. That would suggest there's air in it to me.

looking forward to the results :)

Has anyone mounted one of these in a Silverstone FT01 ? Be interesting to see how you've done it as the only exhaust is the back 120mm although this is supposed to be mounted as an intake.

Maybe switch the top 180mm to exhaust and have the 120mm as intake

im thinking of getting a H50, im currently using a Fenrir and have temps of 80-90 when using prime for 1hr or so.
im running my i7 at 4ghz with 1.3V.
Very interesting thread so far
Will the H50 cool my i7 better or not?

without a doubt, I had a Fenrir and they are not very good at all.

I keep reading 'good for i7'

what does that mean? Good for CPU's that produce small amounts of heat or...?

I have a q6600 oc'd to 3.5ghz and with a core voltage of 1.480 (according to cpuz) ... will the h50 be able to deal with it okay? :)

@bulldog &Gaidin, those temps are amazing, 67c @ 4GHz is awesome imo..

I'm a bit worried about spending £300+ on a custom loop now incase it doesn't perform as well as these units...

I have to give my hat off to Gaidin, as he is 100% right to try to turn upside down H50 rad and were shocked myself how low temperature are ! Best to blow hot air to the back of exhaust, many thanks Gaidin. :) I use push-pull same as Gaiden. We both had the same compare on the H50. (probably to do with us both as a lucky cherry cpu chip)

i7's tend to generate a pretty high amount of heat, certainly more than i ever experienced on my air cooled q6600 at 3.8ghz.

lol I always thought newer = cooler ... i7 hotter than q6600

So whats the best way to install this?

Everything upside down and exhausting the air out of the case in a push pull config?

The I7 is a lot hotter thant the quads or core2s. Memory controller and HT adds to the heat.

It seems in mine that having the pump upside down makes it work better, god know why! I dont think it matters about the rad. I have two apache fans running at 1300rpm exhausting out of the rear of the case, so the are drawing air from inside the case. although I have a fan in the front of my HAF932 which blows cool air directly from the front to the back.

ahhh cool. Yeah I have not really been into pcs for a while and so i7 has not been something I looked into at all :)

But from what you guys are saying the h50 can cool these really hot new i7 chips well enough then my q6600 will be sorted out nicely

My case is a p182 so I think I will do same as Gaidin109 having cool air in from the front and hot air out back as opposed to the official recommended way :p

Glad that turning the pump upside down worked for you ;)

So members who have this already, did you use the thermal paste that was already on the base of the H50, or do you remove it and apply your own thermal paste?

The paste that is pre-applied is supposed to be made by shin-etsu so it should be pretty decent stuff.
