Mole Removal

I am prepared to pay, money is no object. My father had a mole removed by his upper lip last year and there is no scarring.

Scars on faces do tend to heal better, I had three taken off my face and the scars from that are barely noticeable, I can assure you though that other parts of the body will scar more, happy to take a pic of my scar (7 months after it was removed) to show you how big/red it still is.
:)

Thank you I would like to see that, that is really most kind of you.

The mole just above my scar in the pic is the same size as the one they removed, to give you some idea of the size of it before, and the size of the scar after.

(do you have any idea how hard it is to take a picture of your own forearm! :D )

Awwww thanks a lot. I can clearly see that the scar is indeed much bigger than the size of the mole itself. I have always hated these 2 moles on my face and I guess I need to think about it carefully. Please feel free to take more pics of yourself and post them in this thread ;).

Thats 7 months later as well. The one on my back (ive had several removed due to them thinking they were heading down the cancerous route) I hate because its left this massive scar, which didnt heal well at all, and looks vile in my opinion.

As I said though, the ones on my face you can hardly see.

Thanks for the information. I have olive skin so the moles tend to blend in from a distance so I am wondering if its better to just leave them.

I guess you can ask your doc for a referral to a specialist who is in a better position to give you the right answer to that. I guess they dont concentrate so much on making it look nice when they are taking it off for the reasons ive had mine removed.
(as in getting all of it is the more important thing)

I have quite a large mole under my armpit, one of those ones that actually sticks out and you can grab between your thumb and finger.

I showed it to my GP last month and he said it can easily be frozen or burnt off. I asked which was the better method and he said frozen but I can't remember why.
Obviously the procedure used will depend on the type of mole but I think (hope) my one will be easy to remove.

I also have a few on my back which I want checked out.

Does anyone know if it can be frozen off at the GP surgery or if it'll require going to hospital? I'll ask my GP when I next see him but wondered if anyone else has had it done.

I had a large mole on my back removed about 25 ish years ago, Dr was pants and ihave a clear scar with the marks top and bottom where stitches were. On a very wierd note after it was removed about 5 or so smaller moles (on my back) disappeared leaving pink areas i can never get a sun tan on :(.

I got this 2 years ago after a bowel operation. The immune system thinks the moles are cancerous and gets rid of them (also removing pigment in the surrounding skin). I have loads of them and it's annoying as hell because a sun tan looks ridiculous with little white/pink spots scattered all over!

I've got a couple on my back, 1 on my nose and one to the right under my chin which is extremely annoying when it comes to shaving, I have to use scissors around it, might inquire about getting it removed.

I have one on my sack.
Very obtrusive.
I have always been worried by this, because they do say if it changes shape, get it examined straight away.

My wife examines it daily.

I had a mole removed from my arm about 13 years ago, didn't cost anything (I assume because it was potentially cancerous rather than a cosmetic op).

Operation was fine, local anesthetic, felt a bit like someone was pulling at some rubber attached to my arm or something.

I still have a 'scar' there, it's kind of like a paler patch of skin that looks kinda shiny under light and feels smooth to the touch. Somewhat surprising really as I thought it would revert to my nature skin tone eventually.

Ive still got that on the one I posted pics of, can still see all 7 in and out marks where they stitched it. :(

Still its better than getting cancer I guess.

For those of you thinking of getting moles removed from the face, I found that the scar from the one I had removed from my chin was really sore in the cold weather for a couple of winters afterwards. The scar is barely noticeable and it was quite a deep cut and I don't heal very well from cuts etc. normally.

Are some of you sure that you haven't got dark skin tags? These can easily be removed with some thread tied very tightly around the 'neck' of the tag for a couple of days to block the blood supply, and then just snipped off.
