ps3 better than pc BS

It doesn't matter how good your PC is you can't get games like Gran Turismo on PC and vice versa on PC exclusives, if you're a fan of gaming then you want both or you'll miss some gems.

PS3 for me :)

Much prefer sitting on a sofa gaming or watching blu-rays on a 46" TV than sitting on office chair hunched over a 19" monitor.

Plug your 46'' tv into your pc? Use media center & a 360 controller on pc from your sofa, or a wireless mouse or touchpad or w/e ?

OK, go make me a gaming PC for £249, including the necessary OS and compare them.
249 gets you a HDTV, console and games these days  ?

OS is free for a while (win7 beta).

yes, and I've replied. You're saying its okay to upgrade the PC at any cost, But the PS3 can still run its games just the same, at no extra cost

Except pc games are half the price on console games new and there are many good free pc games like Far Cry, Trackmania, Fear combat, etc... If you buy a lot of games then you waste a lot of money on the consoles, unless you sell them on...

An up to date pc will run the newest games for years to come too, people who are still on 7800GT's/x1950 pro's can still run all games... You just have to upgrade if you want newer/nicer graphics and/or performance.

It gets you the console. I said build a PC for that. Not including a monitor or games.

'A while' being the key words there.

What good is a console alone though, play demo's ?

I mean, everyone has a pc as well as a tv for the console, 250 quid ( and you'll have more from the sale of the old bits) gets you a nice upgrade kit for a pc: Core2duo/quad+ mobo +4gbram + 4870...

Then afterwards you have to buy the games, a new pc game is 30 euros, 35 euros max perhaps on online shops, an console game is what? 50 euros? 60? Hell, CoD4 was 69€ on release here for ps3... In online shops you can manage 50 € for a new console game, but not less, it's much more expensive than a new pc game. PC games fall in price much sooner too, which means in a year or so you can pick up bargains for 5-10€ like with the total war games, civ4, etc...

I'll probably be hated for saying this but pc gaming and OS can be free, always, if you care a little bit less about legality... Which is still a very important point still in choosing the platform for many. But then again, a 360 has the same advantage over the ps3 like the pc has in that matter...

What good is a PC for gaming without the games then?

Console games can be had for the same price as PC games if you know where to look and the bargains are there too.

LittleBigPlanet was available for £12 very soon after release.

See my last point... PC games may not cost money if you don't care about being legal or not.

And you have many free ''legal'' full games out there on PC, I don't know if ps3 has similar freebies...

Regardless, imo spending more money, to have a nicer gaming experience ( framerate, graphics, controls, customization) is definitely worth it.

ok iv got into an argument on weather a pc is better than a ps3 at collage.

my m8s all think ps3, i asked why and they said its cheaper and better looking BS
my gaming rig cost me £600
Athlon dual black 2.8GHZ oc to 3GHZ
gtx 260
22" Widescreen LG monitor
4GB 1200MHZ RAM

but to get a ps3 to look nearly as good as that u need a HD tv, and even then it doesnt look nearly as good (crysis).

what spec PC would i need to run Killzone 2, LBP, MGS4 and Halo 3?

Why do you bring up this point, I can reply the same by asking, what console do I need to play Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword, Company of Heroes Tales Of Valor, Killing Floor, Trackmania United Forever, Anno 1404 (the wii version is not the same game), Demigod, etc ?

Everyone has a different taste of games, it's pretty obvious that if you care about the games you named more than pc exclusives, a console would be better for you than a pc.

If you must play halo 3, buy a 360, if you must play kz2 or mgs4, get a ps3...

Has it come to this? PC may be better because you can source games illegally much more easy than a console?

For god sake close the thread!

Yes but..

No but....

Hmmm.

I have both, actually I dont have a PS3 I have a 360. Both are good and cater for different gaming habits really.

But if you want a gaming experience that you can truly lose yourself into, vacuum up your free time. I would go for PC.

Consoles are more pick up and play.

IMO

Someone on this forum or another said "PS3s are for chavs on council estates." Which I thought was pretty funny. Cant really imagine one installing a game let alone connecting a PC to the internet.

ah.... the penny drops...

thats why none are better. and why i own said consoles.

It's all down to personal opinion. I have both and love both. PC for Strategy and FPS, PS3 for sport and racing :D

thats the plan, once i get my ps3 slim at the of the month :D

another benefit of a console will be able to sit back on a nice comfy sofa watch a bluray or play a casual game. also playstation will have a new motion controller soon, which looks promising.

pc gaming will always be my prefered choice though ;)

consoles and pc's are different enough that there should be no need to compare them.

...and what display it is connected to is absolutely irelevant.
