BF2 1.5 patch on 1 September

Hit detection is pretty poor, you can tell you have hit your target with the little puff of dust yet inflict no damage. It's only marginally improved in this patch. However, the whole 'empty a round into an enemy and they turn and one-shot me' is most deffinitley down to user error, hit detection isn't that bad.

You just need to learn about each weapons deviation and recoil, and judge whether iron sights are needed for your particular shot.

Also, some people are just frustratingly good at the game, and by good, I mean they know every slimey little trick in the book (hopping and diving etc).

All those complaining about hit detection - are you coming from MW / WAW by any chance?

Sub-Machine guns & automactic rifles are not sniper rifles for the first 10 shots in this game, try shooting in 1-3 bullet bursts depending on target range.

If you hold down an automatic weapon, you'll be lucky to hit anything beyond 15 yards.

No......

Im just saying compared to other games i play online (all PC) the hit detection is poor...very poor.

Playing BF2 after something like Day of Defeat Source, with razor sharp hit detection can be a frustrating experience.

Maybe its by design rather than just bad net code, but it dosent make it any less annoying whilst playing.

Has this divided the community further or has there been an improved take-up of BF2? TBH i forgot about this as was on holiday last wk, glad i saw this thread so will give it a go :) Still need 2,000 points for my 50,000 unlock !

Shame that Alt + Tab is still bugged. Any idea when there is going to be a proper fix that doesn't break widescreen?

Not had a problem with hit detection, had a good session yesterday as a sniper on that road/overpass map and was happily sniping people who were on the overpass :)

Yup its the same for all bf games, the infantry combat has always felt like its an afterthought or had barely any attention. People still dive to prone and open fire even after aptches to supposodly make that tactic less effective, from what ive seen not much has changed.

I've got to say since changing from playing mostly as special forces (with the G36C) to playing as a medic with the L85 my kill ratio seems to have gone up, it seems a much better weapon. Unfortunately that means I need to play as a medic, however they seem to be able to run forever without tiring? :(

I also have the sniper unlock (M-95) and it's a bit of a pain, never really manage to kill anyone. There was a point where I was lying down shooting a guy a few hundred metres away and puffs of dirt kept appearing just below him, aim slightly up and they would miss completely. I must have fired about two clips and missed every time! :(

Also what's this alt tabbing thing you're all talking about?

Is the input control system still bugged???

i.e. I input the letter "W" as run, but then it will come up with an error saying the key is used elsewhere on vehicle controls.

^^^

It's been an issue for years bud.
Since when it first came out... I came back a few weeks ago after about a year out to find that it was still an issue :(. It's quite a common issue according to google too.

I still get "peak" read as normal office working hours leisure time "ping problems", My ISP AOL will be given the boot ASAP!

That or i will have to cut my neighbours phone lines so the network can cope!

Online checking shows, as in the game that the average server ping is low <50ms but mine is 500 at peak, 25 in quiet times!

That does raise the question is it a network/BT issue or my ISP throttling the server?

Any ideas anyone?
