What You All Have Been Waiting For

Hi All, i'm the owner of the Lupo. Thought i'd join the party, i appreciate that i'm a little late but no bother.

First of all apologies to the people that haven't taken to the Lupo and the Yaris. I thought that they were subtle and not over the top but like all things you're opinion counts.

I have though long and hard while i have been waiting to log on and came up with the conclusion that you either hate modified cars or you dont like the cars in question. But as before no bother, i'm not going to lose sleep over it, some like them some dont. Its a matter of taste and preference. I mean yes we could buy faster cars and go fast etc, etc. But i bought the Lupo because of their character, the way they drive, their rarity and the red seat belts.

I could modify to make it faster, but what would be the point? As i said above if i wanted a faster car i would have bought one, same if i wanted fuel economy i'd of bought a diesel, or even a motorway cruiser, you get the idea.

Personally, i dont think they are that bad, i mean they could be worse, but i'm bound to say that, after all i drive the Lupo.

I just dont see the point in spending time/money modding crap cars, when you could put that money towards something better.

The_Judge, i'm not sure if you care calling the question cars crap but if you are i though i'd inform you on a few things about the Lupo GTi, i'd mention something about the Yaris TS but i dont know much about them.

So here is some information about the "Crappy" Lupo GTi.

Less that 1000 were shipped into the UK and with only under 700 still registered on the UK roads they are quite rare, oh and by your logic - Crap.

They had parts that were, at the time only on executive cars for example lightweight aluminium panels and Xenon lights just like BMWs and Mercs, and the later models have a 6 speed gearbox.

I hope this has made you a little more clued up about the Lupo GTis and now you can think that they are crap but with a little bit of class and rarity.

Oh and craig_kennedy83, my heart bleeds.

Anyway i have rambled on a bit now, and i'm off to bed.

Oh and saying that you raced on the motorway on a public forum is a bit silly really.

Night night.

Vinny

All i can say is that whoever was driving that Golf shouldnt of been a div. At the end of the day i think that i would rather be modding my car than robbing your house just to pay for crack money. So dont have a go at me for doing it. Its my car, my money, my time and if i wish to spend little or stupid money then i can do.

Just one more thing. I know that most people think that the people who modify their cars are D**** and chavs etc but you would find im the opposite to that. The only chavy thing ive done is modify my car to make it look better in my opinion. Im not going to do a stupid body kit, spoiler or big bore exhaust cause then it would be like every other modified car out there, just gonna keep it subtle so that it still blends in. Like ive said i dont drive like a div all the time like most of you must think, and who can really say that theyve never gone over the speed limit? If you want to know my mpg in my car when i drive it carefully its 39.1mpg which is only 2mpg off the figure given for the cycle thing they do where they drive correctly so it seems to me that i drive pretty well.

Anyways im happy to receive any comments about how the cars look, not haw fast they are, not how big or small they are, just how they look.

Thanks

I doubt anyone thinks that of a Yaris :-P Unless they are being overaken whilst on a moped at the time.

I never said it was quick now but if you turbod or supercharged it, it would be.

Also please quote the whole thing not just selected parts cause then your just misleading things and lying

Plus its my money, my time. Not yours so if you dont like what ive done dont tell me how to spoend my money. Its no different then someone buying a house and building an extra room on it. Cause what your saying is just buy another house that has that extra room even though you might like the other house and you want to build an extra room.

Since when?
If dont tastefully not many people will have a problem with it on here.

I think its just the fact you have stated its pretty quick when really it is not all that fast after all which is why people are laying into you.
Its could also be that modifying Small hatch backs with no real go, no matter how tasteful has been done to death over there.

Im not saying your car isnt tasteful it just wouldnt really be a head turner for me.

To me its just a good looking Yaris. The problem you have is Yaris's are pretty common almost all of the world and people will look at it and just think. "Oh a Yaris" No matter what the spec is.

I think its quick for what it is and when it was released there wasnt many cars its size that were just as quick. Dont get me wrong theres a few like the Lupo GTi and a few others i mentioned. I just think if people think that a Starlet Glanza V is quick then i dont see how my car isnt cause after all its on 1sec slower than that which is nothing really and im sure if i spent a few quid on some performance mods it would be just as quick.

Im not saying my cars is fast cause its not but i just think that people shouldnt knock it cause most people on here have never been in one and shouldnt have a go till they have been in one and seen what it can do.

Quick is all relative. If you're a young driver with not many cars in your experience then a Lupo or Yaris stated in this thread will be quick. Heck my first car a Fiat Uno 60_S ( ) was the fastest car in the world I'll have you know, not much could keep up with me ;) However you go through different cars, build up experience, do track days and advanced driving courses, ride motorbikes, do extreme sports etc... and you realise that actually your first car wasn't that great, but it was fun, it was yours, and it did you proud.

I loved my first car - it was a heap of **** but I'd defend it to the hilt in every way, because it was MINE. Then again I don't tend to get many people arguing with me so it's all good anyway :D

My point is that this is the same thing for the OP, he loves his car and probably loves cars in general, I personally think he's done his Yaris up really tastefully, it actually looks cool - and he loves it. It's his pride and joy - you don't have to like it, but being picky and pedantic and dissecting all his posts is a little unfair. You were all exciteable in your early years of driving and if you weren't then you just don't understand what the OP or people like me went through with our cars. You need to get some perspective guys. It's not often I jump in to defend people, especially with people with some dubious posting styles and grammar usage, but I am quick to stop Motors turning further into this elitist "better than thou" place that it's desperately trying to become.

cheers for having a word. Think people respect you on here and you seem to get where im coming from. I do believe that the motors section is doing the same thing thats why i didnt come on for a while but thought that i could start over with everyone but no one seems interested in that. Anyways thanks for peoples comments and as soon as a do a few things i will put some more pics up if people want to see. If not then dont read teh thread as it will be posted as Yaris TS update.

Cheers all and good day

Wise words, wise words.

I beat a Golf TDi the other day on the motorway and he was trying

Like ive said i dont drive like a div all the time like most of you must think, and who can really say that theyve never gone over the speed limit? If you want to know my mpg in my car when i drive it carefully

O RLY ? ;)

You should know Motors by now, you will get comments on everything :D

Enjoy the car (which you clearly do), but most importantly stay safe and continue to learn how to drive better. Putting on performance mods to increase power screams *RACING* to me, and you must see the picture you are painting. If you truly want to increase the performance then first think about a brake upgrade, as putting a turbo on and keeping the same stoppers is pretty silly. The standard stoppers are not built for it, and one day you will overcook it and smash into a tree or worse, someone else.

P.s. The lupo is nice, have one near where I live.

never said i was putting a turbo on it and if i was do you think that i would be stupid enough no to upgrade the brakes first. Also not all performance mods are racing or racey mods, some like lowering springs maybe for how it looks and a front splitter may also be looking good.

Also just like i thought people havent read what ive put and just assume that ive done it already and not thought about anything at all. Just like freefaller has said this section is turning out really poor and people dont have any perspective at all.

Good Day

TBH its my money and my car whats it to do with you whether i supercharge it or turbo it.

;)

Just do what you want to and post up pics and create a progress thread. I cannot believe you didn't expect the thread to turn out this way :D

Quick is all relative. If you're a young driver with not many cars in your experience then a Lupo or Yaris stated in this thread will be quick.

This keeps coming up but he's 22 - he's not 17 and this isn't a car he's scraped the coppers together for from his part time job whilst at college.

haha thats not even the correct car you idiot. Thats a MK2 and is completely different. The only thing its got in common with mine is that its called a Yaris. you might as well got any other Toyota or any other car cause its got 4 wheels and an engine.

Also i might be 22 but insurance is still expensive and so theres no point is saying that at 22 years old that i should have a better car in your opinion.

He's winding you up ;)

EDIT: And if you do decide to tune the Yaris for more power, would be interesting to see how it turns out.
