Terrible speeds on Entanet

The Manchester IPSC node last night was horribly overloaded.

Enta used to be good to work with (from a reseller POV) - now they are very very poor.

Dont see any mention on own forums unless i missed something where did you see this. ?

Martin posted it over on TB.

In the last 3 days, I have spoken to around 10 different people, including management, and not one has provided this as a reason.

Sadly Entanet have really left us, and myself personally, little choice but to end our business with Entanet. I've just got off the phone with company solictors who are preparing a letter, as insisted by Entanet, for complaints to be taken seriously.

Getting 120kb/s download speed here, it was 800kb/s when we first had it. What a joke, new provider next month me thinks!

ADSL24 have locked the forum, as soo many people were complaining about their Non-LLU. They locked it on the 13th giving half an hours notice. That says a LOT IMO.

They archived the old section and opened up a new section where members of the forum where given mod status. Supposedly so the staff could answer tickets faster.

Not many people posting on the forum now. They all left? :P

not having any problems here on Entanet:

Had a bit of a flaky connection for a few days about a month ago but following logging a call it was all resolved.

Could possibly be because I am on a business package with a lower contention ratio maybe?

I get reduced speeds sometimes at busy times (down to around 1.5mbit) but crucially the pings are nearly always very good. I'm on an Office package, not sure whether that makes any difference as the connection should be slightly different (higher upload, offpeak starts at 8pm)

It's certainly still better than most ISPs I've had in recent years.

my ping is always good - thats why I went for adsl24 - but the download speeds are always rubbish no - normally between 1 & 2 Meg, which, when I know I can get 7.5 and I'm paying for upto 8 is annoying to say the least!

Well I've about had it with Enta now, during weekends the service is dire <1mbs

I'm just wondering if anyone has migrated away from entanet recently, I'm looking at

fast.co.uk
vispa.com
icukhosting.co.uk

Does anyone know anything bad about them? Or anything good? Have you migrated to them recently? Are you one of their customers? Any advice appreciated

Well Enta has been running well for me all week (getting roughly 8mb) and now that its the weekend i've seen it drop to 2mb :( It never used to be this bad in the weekends :(

My reseller is Freeola btw

Here's some speed checks using Fast.co.uk

I turn my router off when not in use, so it can be switched off multiple times during the day. Still got a high profile though as regularly connect at 8128kbps, or near enough.

Speed test on Fast.co.uk website
Link. I did this again before posting these pcitures and it increased to 6.56 Mbps, so it does vary wildly.

The time this was conduct was 19:09 as BST not taken into account on picture.

Speedtest.net - Birmingham server
Always get worser ping to this server. Conducted at 19:26 and not per picture time.

Edit: Have had interleave disabled, and here are the repeated speedtest.net results conducted on a Sunday afternoon.

Speedtest.net - Maidenhead server Performed 15:39

Speedtest.net - Birmingham server Performed 15:41

That attenuation indicates that you live practically right next to an exchange :p

Also, why do you turn the router off? DSL services are meant to be connected all the time. Some ISPs will eventually interpret the disconnections as a sign of an unstable line and reduce the sync speed.
