Hi,

Having read lots of threads on this subject it may be nice to keep it all in one place. I'm not just looking at getting the latest games running but the old ones to. If you have to modify something to get it working then add it to this thread as well. This is for x64 version as well.

I can't seem to get Return To Castle Wolfenstein working in Windows 7, keeps throwing up "WolfSP.exe has stopped working" multiplayer seems to be working fine though.

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault doesn't work either. You can load it up and get to the menu but as soon as try to load the actual game up it just hangs.

Both games have the latest patches by the way, and my pc has the latest drivers too.
 
Thanks for the information - I'll have a look at it - I might have them around here somewhere... (well Castle Wolfenstein anyway!)
 
Only two that i know of that have issues with win 7

NWN2 - this is due to a stupid check what DX version you have - it looks for a specific version and does not recognise DX11 (this may have been patched by now)

and

Sacred 2 & expansion - which worked fine up to patch 2.40 but was then screwed up totally on the last patch (2.43). There is however a patch being worked on

BTW there's a lot of mistakes in the list frapple linked to e.g.

Oblivion does not have issued with win 7 x64 and in fact is actually more stable with it

Thanks for the link Frapple. It has quite a good list but I'd like more on what patch version they used, etc. which they don't seem to have. I'll try and find the problematic games (if I have them or mates have them) and then try and get them working via various means.

Works perfectly fine here, played spearhead online with no problems on win7 build 7600 64 bit...


Edit, retested now and it works fine in singleplayer too after pressing new game :

Perhaps you need the spearhead expansion ?
Secret widow, do you have the latest openGL installed?
And have you set the ''extention limit'' in the nvidiacpl at ''enabled'' for mohaa ?




Anyways:

Age of empires 2 ( + conq expansion) : Funny ground texture colors, found the problem on both ati and nvidia pc's. Alt tabbing out and back in usually fixes it and if not, terminating explorer.exe and tabbing back into the game always works.
Worms Armageddon Doesn't work, locks the pc... Though they are working on a fix @ team17.
My mate says Rollercoaster tycoon doesn't work on his pc, I haven't tried myself but it worked fine in vista x64 so don't see why it wouldn't in win7, but not sure, worth checking in to ?

So far thats it, I haven't experienced any otehr issues, yet... I haven't tried that much yet.

Every game in this list works for me - also, Demigod, Grid, Assassin's Creed, Mirror's Edge, DeadSpace, Burnout Paradise, Soldat.

I think it'd be much quicker just to make a list of the few games that don't :)

No idea about the spearhead expansion but it worked in XP fine before. :p

What do you mean latest openGL? Do you mean the latest Nvidia drivers?

Also I don't know what you mean about "extention limit" in nvidiacpl, it's just left as default.

Please feed me the infos. :p

OpenGL ''should'' come in the nvidia's, sometimes fails though. It gives an error when not installed I remember now on starting the game so I don't think it is the case...

RTCW is an openGL game too right? Quake 3 engine iirc...
Enable extention that for that too... Iirc it's diabled as a default.

Deus Ex works, but doesn't like it if you have two+ monitors, it's fine if you just disable all but your main screen though. There can also be problems with cut-scene dialogue being cut short. There are various different fixes for this which can be found easily with a search - the same solution doesn't work for every computer so keep trying if the first one doesn't work for you. I got it working properly but I forget which fix I had to use :(.
 
Fear 1 and 2, Stalker Shadow Of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, Shift, Dirt, Grid (only had to modify those 2 for the i7), Tombi Anniversary, HL2, Ep1, Ep2 all work fine. :)
