No idea what Sky anytime is.

Yeah it's all included free for the highest TV package. For medium or lower package, you need to pay per view i think.

You get full selection of i-Player and 4oD from last 7 days, including some select older shows.

And also, many popular shows from other channels like History, Discovery, NatGeo etc, a lot of them in HD too.

You also get ****loads of music videos.

You think that because there's no "fast moving stuff" there's no benefit of a higher image resolution?

Not everything benefits from HD. as I said fast moving stuff or detailed images benefit. There are many programs that their really is no benefit unless you have rose tinted glasses on. It is not blu-ray quality. A lot of channels are very sub bar and low bit rate, it also depends how a show is recorded. Some stuff is a massive benefit, other programs it's not even worth pressing 3 numbers to change to HD. Just because it's a HD channel doesn't mean it is in HD, just look at Sky1 HD, probably 1-2hours a day is actually in HD.

Sky anytime is extremely limited and absolutely pants in comparison to VirginOD. If you get sky films and/or sports go Sky. If you don't then virgin really is the better offer IMO.

Sky1 HD 1-2 Hours a day is HD? Not being funny here but I think you need to look into 'actual' figures than just pull a number out of the thin air, most if not all Sky1 HD programmes are shown in actual HD.

And can you care to provide names of programmes that are in HD and don’t benefit? All the content that’s shown in SD then has a HD feed on anther channel there is always a difference, if you cannot see this then perhaps you have a substandard HD screen or your eyes are somewhat past it.

No, sorry. Slow moving stuff benefits just as much as fast moving stuff. In-fact, slow moving stuff is will be sharper and look better than a fast moving blur. Think about it for a second, a snail standing still will look incredibly sharp, and you will be able to distinguish all the glory of HD. A Bugatti veyron racing past will be a complete blur as the shutter speed and frame rate is too low to capture any sharp detail.

Why? What has the programme got to do with anything? IF it's shot with proper HD cameras it WILL look better. The name of the program does NOT matter.

Well then, everything would OBVIOUSLY benefit from being shot in HD, you just said it yourself!

Yes and many things do benefit. All I said was many programs do not with current HD channels. Take things like American chopper, the difference is minimal at best. Other things like Top gear look amazing. I've never said it's a bad thing or not worth. Just that for many people paying the extra for sky over virgin will be a waste. Take skyone very few things are shot in HD apart from the new series like lost. Simpsons, futurama, police shows and the like aren't. Which is most of skyones build up.

American Chopper? Sorry there but you are talking rubbish, its a huge difference shot and showed in HD.

What set are you using to come to the conclusions you are?

Yeah. I think BBC HD is the only channel who's programs are actual HD 100%.

Unlike 4HD, which is just simulcast with standard C4 whether or not the programs are actually HD.

New Simpsons are in HD, new Futurama are in HD, all the police shows are in HD (Road Wars, Night Cops).

which is a very small make up a lot of stuff is old repeats.

Samsung LE37M86BD - As I said some stuff looks amazing, other stuff doesn't. I do think a lot of people have rose tinted glasses on. Really flick between Normal and HD channels and it's surprising how little difference there is in many programs. Where blu-ray is higher quality and really does look amazing.

Its not like they are going to stop showing episodes cause there aren't in HD. Its the fact that they are broadcasting every new episode of almost every show in HD.

Take a look at tonights listings: http://tv.sky.com/tvlistings

Everything apart from two old episodes of the Simpsons are in HD.

I had the 40" version of that TV and it wasn't good. I now have a Panasonic plasma which is "just" 720p compared to the 1080p LCD i had before. The difference is hugely better even though the res is down.

I don't understand why you keep talking about Blu-ray. It has no place here because Sky don't broadcast at 1080p. Of course Blu-ray will look better than SkyHD, there is no point in comparing the two here.

Non of the Simpson on tonight is in HD, nor futurama, nor CSI.

The reason I bring up blu-ray is blu-ray really does look fantastic.

Why do you think I'm slagging HD off, I'm not at all. I'm simply saying that not all stuff on HD channels is Hd and not all HD stuff on HD channels looks amazing.

Nobody has rose tinted glasses on so stop pulling that one! Now you have a 37' set how far back do you view the TV from? There could be a HUGE chance you are sitting too far back to see any differences as 37’ is a small size to see differences in HD. When you get to 50+ sets you really see the difference.

And please don’t compare BluRay with the broadcast of HD as its highly different, NOT one county in the world broadcast BluRay quality material.
