could be the gpu overheating, can u run rivatuner to auto control your gpu fan. I found mine quite high fan speed on running this game.

Just did the Malaysian rally and wow!!! So awesome 
Has to be one of the first games where I have actually noticed the different feel from the racetracks, you can feel your wheels digging in on the Malaysian track due to the damn conditions etc.

installed the game fine but went to have a go and it says need to have a profile to play online so used my xbox live profile then it says enter your key so enter it and it says its invalid,how can it be invalid if it lets me download the game and its the code i got free with my card any ideas please

got a dirt2 has stopped responding error and ccc stopped responding , and i had to restart my system cause everything went crazy . is this a game error or driver issue ? , i am running the dirt2 hotfix drivers
use code from steam not the one from your voucher? dunno if they are different

Well I got this bundled free with my HD5850, it's now on Steam and I'm downloading, quite looking forward to playing it really especially with my G25

I'm finally in yay. I set it to run in Vista SP2 compatability mode and ran it directly, not through steam. I still have it set to run as admin from my previous tests but haven't tried Vista mode on its own. Also a just in case, before I tried the Vista mode I tried the Ati hotfix just in case there was an undocumented change for single cards that might've worked (which it didn't).I'll second that.
Does exactly the same with my setup, which is the same as yours.
Played GRID earlier for 2 hours and it was fine.. tried launching this and like you said, just a black screen back and for Windows.
Terrible.
You might have to quickly hammer the Return key to get through the start up videos as it still seems to bomb out on the last one for me if I let it run.
Got the same when I tried but when I open it through steam it pops up a window telling me a different key to the one on my card that it says is used for online. Entered that one and it worked.

if its anything like the demo i found that the only way to make it playable was by enabling vsync. With it off i got lots of stuttering, random hangs and sound cutting out. With it on it played perfect

thanks that worked,but this game lags really bad,does it auto go into dx11 mode or can you change it to dx9,as this 5770 wont be powerfull enough for 1900/1200 in dx11 mode

v-sync solves the stuttering but jesus its hard using a 360 controller
i find it dead easy with 360 controller, found it perfect on grid as well, practice !

Im using my rumblepad 2 and its way too sensitve for the small course corrections and i keep crashing, is there anything in game that i can do to make it less so?
Xbox 360 controller already perfectly configured . Also I've used the 360 controller befoer on GRID and now on Dirt2 and its perfect.
The reason you might find it harder, coming from worse controllers is because it allows precision control of wheels (much better than my rumblepad 2). Unlike say a keyboard or d-pad.
Game runs brilliantly (50fps minimum, 60 average) on maximum allowable settings for HD 4890 at 1920*1080 and 4x MSAA.

Mash the Enter key to skip ALL videos..
Now its runnign perfectly. Apart from terrible controller input.

Weird game this, finished off downloading earlier, so i decided to run it and set it up before i went out (gfx and that), but what a faff on, i done that, but couldn't quit, i had to start a race 
, so soon as the race loaded, banged ESC and retired, now wtf, he starts babbling on saying ive managed to unlock 3 cars and what not, just by retiring , get back to the trailer, and finally able to quit the thing.
Well bizarre, also, has the benchmark been removed from the game, as its not there for me, as i wanted to see if the game ran any different to the demo as well.
