Last day of the sales so everyone will be buying stuff thats on sale but not a special day offer. I wouldn't expect normal DL speeds till tomorrow evening.
 
I don't know if this is related to Virgin Media's traffic throttling but right now seems to be the perfect time to get all the big downloads kicked off.

Currently grabbing the Unreal games at 2.1MB/s :)
 
OH, do we still have to do all that signing in to rockstar social clubs with the steam version? :/

Downloading borderlands at 900kb/s right now. 70% done so far.

That only works with a few specific valve packages. For instance:

If you have HL2 and/or Episode One, and buy the Orange box, you get an extra copy of those.
If you have Portal, and buy the orange box, you *don't* get an extra copy of Portal to pass on.
 
GTA4 is well worth all the hoops you have to jump through though, it's a great game. Can't say I've ever had a problem with the social club either.

VM has been fast enough for me downloading but the ping has been rubbish for about a month now. Not sure why, but it makes online gaming a PITA. Been trying to play Shattered Horizon but keep getting kicked. Anyone else getting rubbish ping with VM?

You can turn that off. Right-click the social club icon and uncheck "Start with Windows"

You're definitely not the only one though mine's quite intermittent and was horrible up until midnight (traffic shaping?). Just take a look on the VM Broadband forum of cableforum.co.uk

Sign up to Rockstar social
Sign up and install Windows Live for games
Link the two accounts together
then
Sign in to Steam
Sign in to Rockstar social
Sign in to Windows live for games (which would not work without having to open ports)
Then I could play - took me around 40 mins including googling why I could not log into WLFG whilst in GTA4.

Was a pain :p
 
Bah - need to check if Ive missed out on anything - only got GTA4 today (already have L4D2 and KF). Still undecided about Torchlight since I dont usually play those games. Already got STALKER retail and never played it so wont be steaming that...

Now just all the premier deals to go through...

bahh... these deals have set me back just under 150!

Finished my shopping today with the edios pack, shadow grounds pack, overlord pack, riddick, clear sky, rome, Witcher, beyond good & evil, indigo prophecy!

A lot of gaming, and I intend to go through all of them lols. These sales can be deceivingly expensive!
