New Toy - That's a big piece of glass !

I take it the store we call 'onestop' is a decent source for gears? Reason being I am about to pull the trigger on a 35mm L, 430EXII and a 72mm Hoya CPL using them. I liked how they answered all questions really quickly and they agreed to give me another £10 off for ordering all 3 items, going to see if they are going to price match the 35L with another HK based store. Has anyone been stung by custom fee through using them?

Just went on their site and before I knew it priced up 4k's worth of gear.

Argh :( Time to sell a kidney :p

I reckon most of us could rack up about £5-10k's worth very quickly if we could :p

I would buy a 5D2, 35L, 85L, 200L, new tripod, memory cards, flashes, bags, light stands, lighting equipment!!! Quite scary really!

Ordered placed from them, very impressive pre-sale they have. They price matched the the 35L so I got it for £960, 430EXII for £185, Hoya 72mm Pro 1 Digital Multi-Coated CPL for £50 and a Sto-Fen Omnibounce for £17.

Kit now includes 5DMKII, 24-105L, 35L, 135L and a 430EXII :). All I need now is a decent tripod which I plan to buy in Hong Kong when I go there next week.

I think you got that backwards, buying a Tripod abroad and bring it half way across the world?

Ive been eyeing up some Benro's tripod which are rated quite highly in some photography forums, basically on par with Gitzo but at half the price. Problem is that all sellers are based in China or Hong Kong so I thought I might as well get them over there as I would be able to check them out in person.

I've been messing around with the lens around the house (it's so dark out :() and I just love the shallow depth of field, sharpness, and the amazing bokeh thing lens creates. Bloody fantastic!

My stuff arrived today through Fedex right on time despite the weather. No custom fee paid, they marked it as repaired lens value of 17Euros, very impressed with the service.

Rubbishy pic from phone cam, think I am satisfied with the setup now :)

Shame I have work now, no time to play around :(

The 35L is a pretty new version, Date code indicate built Nov 09. It front(?) focuses slightly when I tested it with live view and is fine when microadjustment is up'd to +15, its the first lens I got with focusing issues. Is it worth sending it to Canon to be recalibrated? Or should I just live with it as it seems fine with microadjustment?

Wanna swap yours 35L for mine 50 1.4 ? :D
at the moment i have 5d2 + 50 1.4+ 135L and 430II ;)
Trying to save some money up for 35L and swap 50 1.4 with 1.2 ;D ....
dreams dreams dreams :D

Umm sure :p. Do you think the 1.2 is worth the upgrade from 1.4? From I've been reading its not that much sharper than the 1.4 version and it is rather soft in the corners, obviously build quality is better but is it £1000 better? I'd be more tempted by the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm if only I dont suck at MF ;)
