Different Hanns.G 28" model now stocked?

Here are some more pictures playing l4d2 trying to replicate the dark problem. So far I seem not to be able to do it.. any tips?

The pictures are very grainy if taken without flash.

When using the ATI Ladybug demo and opening the credits as shown below the screen is making a hizzing noise which changes depending on what you select in the menu. Not heard that before...

I think I'm gonna end up with one, not happy hearing about the dead pixel though. Personally I think 1 is too many, any idea what the limit is for getting a replacement?

Would like to hear more about this hissing noise aswell, has anyone else experienced it?

I think the backlight bleed might be down to people having the backlight set too bright and the monitor not angled properly, anyone care to comment? Have any of you played with the angles and that?

Think I'll end up with one of these though, 5ms on a 28" monitor is pretty good going! The only thing I think might bother me is the resolution, 1680x1050 on a 22" is ok but not ideal for me, I'd prefer higher. The fact that a 30" uses 2560 wide or something daft tells me they should have made a new resolution really, not used the accepted 24" standard.

But never mind, a 28" for £280 is always going to be a bit of a compromise I suppose.

I'm assuming (perhaps incorrectly) it's 1920x1200

Yep, tis indeed, ideally I'd want more than that but I'll live!

Think I'm gonna go for it tommorrow and whip out the old credilly card, sounds like the backlight bleeding is more to do with setup to me, which is what my inital thought was on hearing about it.

It’s definitely not the setup at fault on mine; I’ve tried all the setting and combinations on the monitor to cure the problem to no avail. I’ll try and take some pictures tonight to show how severe it is. As pointed out in a lot of the other monitor threads it seems to be pot luck as to what you’ll receive when ordering a monitor. If you can get one without the bleed it's a cracking monitor for the price.

How can some of them be different to others though if they're made in the same batch and all that kinda thing?

EDIT: Never mind, just ordered me one. Here's hoping I get one of the good ones!

hi guys,

just to report back. The strange noise really only happened in the ATI Tech demo to me. Not in any game so far.

In general I am happy with the screen. I can not see any backlight bleeding on black in the corners. I can not reproduce the odd shadows in dark images either.

Watched TV on it with no problem, played games (COD4 and L4D2) without any noticeable problems.

Only the border is much bigger than my Dell which takes some getting used to. The design is the black you find on most current plasma and lcd tv's.

The dead or stuck pixel really is minute. Barely noticeable on all black. It is so tiny (like a pin head) that if you are further than 30 cm away its hard to actually notice. Unlike any dead / stuck pixel I had before (mainly 19" screens).

Just set color mode to custom with all colors at 100. Looks a bit nicer and the gray of steam is looking good now. I think it was set to cool by default.

after 2days i've noticed problems.

the sides of the screen looks a tiny fainter and i got a round faint path in the middle which can be seen on black. the corners goes slightly darker sometimes.

if it gets worse ill RMA.

I've cleared the space I'll need to fit both my monitors on my desk, tis a very big space! together they're 1.2m long. :D

Just hoping I get a goodun and don't have to mess around with RMAing it and stuff.

Not arrived yet, expecting it today though.

Still hasn't arrived, not impressed at all. The tracker says it's currently in the depo in Manchester and has been since 3AM this morning, it's less than 25 miles away.

I can't get them on the phone either and I can't stay in tommorrow to wait. Wonderful!

I don't think mine has the same problem or I simply can not see it. Granting that I am not the most picky person when it comes to details of how something looks...

What you say is that the color varies at the edge of the screen and in the center?

Finally got around to taking a picture of how bad mine is. This is with settings of, custom colour, brightness: 30 and contrast: 40

Even with brightness down to 0 the bleed is still visible.

Half an hour on the phone to find out that there's a backlog at the Manchester depo, and the nice lady on the phone said that I'd get an email when it's been dispatched from the depo to me.

Why couldn't they have emailed me to tell me about the backlog in the first place! I wouldn't have sat in all day yesterday then. :(
