Apple's January 27th Event

I think this looks cool but I can't see me having any use for it. The only Apple device I currently own is an iPhone and I feel I can do everything when I'm out and about on this anyway...

I just need my current laptop to break so I can justify a sexy new Macbook Pro or iMac :'(

Wow apple what a fail :/

I was expecting something like a macbook but just the screen and touchscreen but can also be used as a graphics tablet. Now that would be good. But its just a stretched ipod touch :(

LOL saw this in the news, techically speaking the slate pc's are going to **** on this from a great hight, but as usually the numties that by this will make it sucessful

Only if you think spec rules the world. Functionally it looks pretty good as a MID to me, it's not perfect and it is expensive but it does fill a hole for me and right now I don't know what else competes...

So much fail. Annoyed there was no indication of a MacBook Pro refresh. Think I should go for the 13"?

I am now in that boat, much as I want a new macbook pro I'm tell myself to wait. The refresh (certainly for the 15" at least) will be notably faster in theory...

something interesting regarding iphone OS
The iPad has a hands on at engadget

I quote them on this
"It's running iPhone OS 3.2"

Thats not 4.0.
What makes me wonder is that we (as iphone users) will get 3.2 when iPad ships? and thats enough to warrant not releasing a new iPhone this year?

It looks interesting, but the lack of a camera is a shame, as is the apparent lack of flash support (I'm assuming that the missing plugin icon in the presentation was a flash plugin).

I've just looked through all transcripts, not that impressed. Bit of a let down really, it's now obvious the iPhone will not get multitasking either :(.

One nice thing is these adapters you can get for importing photos
iPad Camera Connection Kit

The Camera Connection Kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera. The Camera Connector lets you import your photos and videos to iPad using the camera’s USB cable. Or you can use the SD Card Reader to import photos and videos directly from the camera’s SD card.

No, there will likely be a new iphone in the summer, when there's been a new iphone for the last two years running. Why people were expecting it (or iphone OS4) now is a mystery to me...

I Think once the iphone has a decent camera with flash theres not much else they can seem to do with it. iPad is nothing more than software really on a bigger canvas.
