Trance is so vastly misunderstood...

Tunes like "Miracle" talk about the impact Global warming is having on the planet and it's a sad melodic about how it's too late for us to do anything about it unless we look within ourselves to change things.

I love A&B but 'Miracle' was really jumping the shark. :( You hear so much crap about global warming that it would be nice to get away from it but noooooooooooo.

Was listening to a Judge Jules set the other day (I know I don't normally but was bored!) And heard a track that sounded like a cross between Fidget House and Trance ... but it actually sounded good :o Maybe Tech Trance?

Trance music is almost always ruined by stupid lyrics that seem tacked on every time. It's why I stopped listening to it years ago and looked around for electronic ambient or downtempo instead. Or even better, psy goa - trance without the bull-****. Doof, Shpongle, Principles of Flight, Younger Brother and so on are all way better than anything most Trance DJs and their dumb lyrics could dream up.

can't beat a bit of trance, for me especally vocal, put it on, dark room lay on bed & drift away. As said Oceanlab series of the sea brilliant album.

good radio station i've found if anyones inteested is the vocal trance station on di.fm, absolutly brilliant tracks and mixes on there.

Is BT Trance? I love BT.

Would depend on the track, period, time of day, owt really....

The "Monster" OST certainly isn't trance by any degree, neither are many of the tracks on "Emotional Technology". Have only heard the singles from "These Hopeful Machines" so far, so not sure what the rest's like.

Think he's too variable (style wise) to be nailed down to any particular genre, other than him being a really good musician!

Fidget House

hahahahaha

What the hell has happened to dance music? So commercial and branded. Every time someone produces a track thats a little bit different, everybody jumps on it, packages and brands it, and gives it a new name so people can 'belong' to a genre. What a joke. Why good music can't be let alone to be good music is beyond me.

Fidget House is hardly commercial name one track you've heard thats Fidget House on the radio. Even the guys who named the genre only started it as a joke. Subgenres of dance are necessary as styles are changing and it makes it easier for DJ's as myself to find specific styles were after ;)

Yeah, that's sort of what I hate about dance music too. A dj will play the same style of music for the entirity of his set. That doesn't excite me at all when nobody takes chances. There doesn't seem to be many dj's who will educate a crowd.

What DJ's do you listen to, I know many who mix all different types of music together and love it!

This is where you uncover me as being an old fart!

I don't listen to any dance these days. But when I did, I went through a few eras/phases (and ironically, genres). Acid house, chicago, rave, jungle, progressive, big beat and finally breaks. Big beat was the most interesting though, those dj's really amazed me. Dropping "I dont like reggae" into the middle of a Trax records set, and ending it with "son of a preacher man". I really loved those nights, and when the lights went up and the people clapped and stomped their feet shouting "one more", they really meant it.

Getting a bit off the beaten track here though, I don't mean to derail the thread. To make amends...
