Trance is so vastly misunderstood...

Hi all,

Some of you may know the record label 'anjunabeats' (as per sig)...

It's responsible for a huggggge catalog of some of the finest music on the planet (imo)...

They sign up great uplifting and progressive trance artists for example.

What I'd like to say though is that trance isn't what a lot of people think it is. When you say the word "trance" to someone they automatically think of utter garbage like Cascada and Basshunter...

This isn't proper trance music!!!

I think if you're one of those people who don't listen to trance much that you should perhaps listen to a few tunes from artists like Above and Beyond...

I'll get the ball rolling with a few tunes which may make you're perception of trance change somewhat... ;)

I am a MASSIVE MASSIVE trance fan, search my name in this forum for evidence, and you are totally right trance is mis-understood... except the misunderstanding is that the **** churned out by Above & Beyond and the like is the 'finest' trance can offer.

It really is quite poor. The vocals are cheesy, generic and predictable in sooooooo many tracks nowadays. Take Filo & Peri feat. Aruna - Ashley (Alex MORPH) for example, just because it has the name File&Peri / Alex MORPH attached to it doesn't make it any less like the clubland music you hear by basshunter/cascade. Seriously, listen to it, awful.

John O'Callaghan is one of my favourite artists but his album last year was a steaming pile of crap, i was gutted. Rather that the big uplifting tracks, the techy monsters and the rolling basslines i was hoping for, instead we got 90% uninspiring vocal cheese. Thank god he is starting his own label, Armada ruined him last year :(

Dash Berlin - Man on the Run
Ferry Corsten - Made of Love
Armin - Unforgivable

I could name a hundred more but these popped into my head first. All 3 were VERY very popular and played on just about every radio show. So this is where the word 'misunderstanding' comes in for me.... how and why do so many people think this is good?

Trance is so vastly overestimated and sounds like the spice girls of the electronic music world.

Title fix for you girly men. ;)

That first song would be infinitely better without the lyrics. To be honest I think that is my only reason for not listening to most of it, the lyrics always seem like a tacked on after thought and are always really, REALLY bad and just don't really fit.

Is it weird how I only read the first 2 posts and that was the first song I thought of?
