Why does Star Trek online look like it was made in 2004? The graphics are awful.

The ground stuff isn't great but out in space looks amazing.

Is it meant to be that dark?
I couldn't see where I was going, even with the flashlight turned on.
The graphics seem to look worse than they actually are, in-game there are a lot less jaggies.
I've had the game for a while, I tried playing it when I first bought it and got bored after about half an hour or so, and I thought I would give it another try. I'm actually starting to like it now, it's getting more interesting, I think I gave up after the first few missions when I originally played it but I sticking with it this time.

Those screenshots look awful because of the jpeg compression.
At least they don't make me wait until retarded o'clock like some other posters have been.
