*** Official BioShock 2 Thread ***

Oh really? Just bought this myself and am wondering if this effects the resell value. I don't keep games, I tend to complete them on SP and then get rid.

I dont think it ties you to it or anything. Was just reading that the DRM limits you to 15 installs, so thats not to bad I guess.

Blah, is anyone getting as bored as me with this? I can't play more than 15 minutes without turning it off and doing something more fun, like twiddling my thumbs until my next lecture.

I still blame it on the multiplayer. When they work on the multiplayer, the single player suffers, and boy has it suffered.

Yeah, but two seperate studios worked on SP and MP; with the idea that neither would suffer.

Evidently i'm wrong. The SP didn't suffer due to MP. Looks like the team who did SP did an Infinity Ward; Reskin and change a few things around and rerelease it, only with less polish.

I have very strange bug with collecting items from corpses or desks etc. To pick up an item normally I press E. To search a corpse I also press E as promped. When it shows me the upto 3 items the corspe has, I press E again and nothing happens. I've since discovered that pressing Y gets me the top item, B the middle item and X for the bottom item (I think that's the right order)

EDIT: I set all the controls back to default and then set them again how I wanted and everything seems to work fine now. Hope it stays that way.
did that to me when after I loaded up MP once. haven't tried MP again yet though. couldn't work out what the problem was for ages :|

Think most people have been right about what they have said. This feels more like an expansion pack than a new game.

Dont get me wrong I love the setting and background to the game and I did spring £40 for the collectors edition but I just feel it could have been so much more.

Also does anyone find it annoying that its left mouse to shoot your gun and right mouse for plasmids even though the hands are the other way around.

Yes im aware I can change them and will do next time I play but it just annoys me that out of the box they got that wrong. Clearly designed for a pad as right trigger is normally shoot.

Just had a quick blast through the first level and it runs very well at 1280x1024 with a 8800GTS 320Mb with everything on high. Not sure if theres any AA/AF on tho.

Huh? What sort of complaint is that. If they made mouse 1 Plasmids and mouse 2 fire I would change it BACK. Mouse 1 is fire your gun in every game since the dawn of gaming (not literally), changing it for the sake of orientation would be stupid, besides, can't you swap hands?

I just can't seem to get a button configuration i'm happy with. Mouse 1 = fire, Mouse 2 = zoom/sights is common, so i've had to put plasmid as Mouse 4 and melee as Shift. I should probably change those 2 round and have melee as Mouse 4 like i used in CoD4 and Shift as plasmid... no doubt i'll end up trying to sprint and using a plasmid ><

i dont see why they didnt just use another engine all together...2.5 be it a modded version will still show age, and considering its 2010 the graphics should be updated. If anything try getting the unreal 3 engine if possible =[.

It is Unreal 3.

Only a couple of hours in, slowly poring over everything, there seems ot be more collectibles and pickups than any other game I've played. I'm actually enjoying the gameplay and weapons/plasmids more than the original, it's more the maps that I don't like.

They have obviously spent a lot of time on them and there's loads of detail etc. I just don't find them as visually appealing as the original, apart form teh outdoor water parts. Some fo teh settings in the original were really beautiful but so far in Bioshock 2 everywhere looks decrepid and falling apart - I know it's supposed to be like that but it's just not attractive to look at. Am hoping it will pick up though.

Same as. I've gone back to Mouse 1 Fire, Mouse 2 Plasmid, will just get used to that. Having run (shift) as melee is safer ;)

whats up with the horrible terrible nasty menu in the SP? The MP has a perfect menu but the SP is a joke... the cursor lags a lot too.

What gives?

I can't even use the quick save function. It gives me the haven't created one / aren't signed in error (both which are wrong).

I have to use the ESC, option blah.

Yes it's terrible, seems like it was thrown together in a few minutes. Just finished the game, loved it from start to finish. It was a bit short and in some ways in liked the 1st one more, for me that story line was a lot more appealing and deep. Lamb's experiments never became as interesting as the Fontaine/Ryan mix of the 1st game.
