Google employees given Google Nexus

I've got the Radio image from the ERE36B build (32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2) :)

I've got the HTC_IME Keyboard from that rom running on the N1 now, Very good it is too. :D

Me too! :D Awesome aren't they? - For those who don't know about HTC_IME: a long press on a key will give the ctrl key that would appear on the alternate, symbol/number, keyboard screen, if you understand what I'm on about.

Also the guy who came up with the overclocked kernel for the nexus has just made one that undervolts with stock speeds. I've flashed it and am running it atm, will report back on the battery life improvements [if any]

For those interested that kernel is from: http://iq0.org/story/yet-another-nexus-one-kernel-now-battery-saving

If you don't understand that page, don't start flashing new kernels!!! :)

Would't it slow the N1 down? The Desire has more ram to compensate for this...no?

It will use some extra RAM. But 512MB RAM is plenty when you consider the htc hero only has 288MB.

HTC Sense with a load of their widgets (weather, clock, calender, texts, twitter) is using only 45MB on my HTC Hero atm.

Placed my order yesterday, engraved and shipped in one day. Hopefully turn up on Saturday otherwise It'll be a long wait, mind you where I live seems to be a DHL no-go zone so It's more than likely going to be a long Sunday for me.

As for the engraving, my girlfriend jokingly suggested I should get 'Limited edition 001/500' engraved on the back. Which was quite funny at the time, I must admit.

Just a heads up if you have the 'Weather Widget - Donate' installed.

DO NOT UPDATE

It is killing the N1 and sending it into a boot loop.

V_R are you running cyan 5.02? Looking at battery usage in settings it seems Android OS has used over half the battery that I've used today if you get what I mean - the other 50% is split over my apps, screen and so on. Seems to be a really inefficient build :( if you're not suffering too do you reckon it could be caused my my modified undervolting kernel being inefficient?

Indeed i am with the ERE36B build. Stock kernel (2.6.29.6) with 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 radio.

My battery life as per the 'about phone' menu is....

Cell Standby = 42%
Idle = 40%
Android System = 14%
Display = 4%
Live wallpaper = 2%

Though i have a charger here at work so sometimes just top it up while im sat at my desk, like i did this morning.

Yours does sound a little high, but it depends on what you do wit hthe phone i guess?

It's odd, I need to sit down and look at logically, remove the custom kernel, leaked radio, and cyan build in turn to see which is the culprit. Seen the xda thread for the leaked radio claiming that even this radio isn't perfect? I think the general consensus is that the remaining issues are t mob USA flaws, and if if that is true then the hit on sales this whole 3g episode caused weren't even HTC's fault....

Think i still fancy the Nexus one have a Hero which is a good phone, got the Milestone for the physical keyboard but find i don't use it so think i will get rid of both and get one of these.

Ok finaly there is a reason to root imo now.

Alpha 8 of the desire Rom is out tommorow that paired with that overlcoked kernel seems a decent combo

Hey guys, Sorry extremely noob question

Does the N1 have Wifi? Does the iphone 3GS also have wifi?

My contract finally ends in august (on a samsung Tocco atm crap phone is crap) and im looking at getting either the N1 or the new iphone once it comes out but i was woundering if you lovely people could help me weigh up the pros and cons.

cheers

Difficult to try to compare a Nexus to a phone no-one knows anything about yet (the "4g") :p

But to answer the first question yes the Nexus One and iPhone 3GS do have WiFi :)
