Crucial C300 SSD SATA III

As the 128 Gb one has had its write spec amended to 140 have you had conformation of this from crucial?

i just phoned crucial saying i wanted to buy one but wanted to check the spec, it is indeed only 140mbs write speed on the 128gb version. the sales guy on the phone at first said both the 256 and 128 should have the same read/write speed, i told him there was speculation that the 128 had much lower write speeds and id like it confirmed, i had to wait on hold while he went to check then he came back with the bad news, even he was surprised to see the write speed drop so much on the 128.

So am I better off trying to get an OCZ Vertex LE? As I am not paying out for the 256 Gb one.

I would say yes, that is exactly what i am going to order but have a feeling that there wont be enough to go around.

Might have to wait for vertex2 instead.

shame on crucial for limiting the write speed like this, it would have been a fantastic HD otherwise.

personally im going to stick with my pre-order for the ocz LE 100gb, ive seen enough reviews/benchmarks to know its very good whereas ive not seen anything on the 128 c300, i would want to see many reviews/benchmarks on it and by then all these LE's would have been snapped up if they did indeed only make 5,000 of them

Damn; I cancelled my OCZ LE pre-order and ordered the 128GB C300.

If I cancel again and go back to the LE I might not get one now. I think I'll stick with the C300 and hope that they speed it up in a firmware update. At least the C300 isn't limited by the interface so it has greater potential than the LE.

Anyone got any idea why the write speed should be so much slower on the 128GB C300? Fewer banks of flash perhaps?

Why are you shelling out £300+ for the LE, when the Sandforce drives and Vertex 2 Pro are just around the corner ?

the vertex 2 pro has been scrapped, the LE is basicly what the vertex 2 pro would have been but without a supercap (from what i read the supercap is mainly for server usage of the drive) the LE is a sandforce 1500 controller and performs vertually the same as the vertex 2 pro they tested last year. i got the info here...

Oh ... rite! Then why not wait for the Vertex 2 or the Vertex 2 EX ?
