Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

Is there any news on this on the PC front?

Hoping this will be DX11 like Dirt 2 :)

Will definitely be getting this on the PS3 at least.

Do you guys play F1:CE online? I randomly give the demo a whirl every few weeks, as I really wanted the full version, but I've never been able to find it at a reasonable price!

Su
never tried it online, was dead on launch, even more dead now :) but if anyones up for trying to get a game online, hit my psn account up with a msg :)

New details video and screenshots here

Game limited online with 14 cars (13 other players online)

Weather system looks graphically impressive and nice touches with dirt on the tyres etc.

Looks very arcadey which I would love. Like the look of it as well, probably be the first game that would have me buy a wheel as well.

Listen Codemasters can spout on about new handling and this will be different to their past games. I totally believe them it will be different.

I do not for one moment think this will offer anything more difficult or true simulation to other console games that say brave things in development about their handling. Chances are this will offer a degree of required throttle and braking control particulary in the wet but it wont be amazingly difficult or require precise control, why because its a console game and console games no.1 priority is to appeal to as large of an audience as possible and console games by nature are played with a majority of pad owners that cannot function to the same degree as a wheel can in precision. Yes it will have an arcade mode but that will require next to no realistic driving (as the videos show already)

What codies want to achieve is great graphics, an exciting racing game to play which looks fast is fun to race and have it appeal to as many F1 fans as possible. I do believe this will beat the last few F1 console games that appeared and Codemasters are going down the route of having more than just racing with this career/story mode. Its nice to see something different being done and is about time a decent racing game simulated weather systems to a decent level.

My own biggest worry is the AI. I cannot believe how AI in the fps genre has advanced so much over the last few years yet racing games suck with realy poor AI that cant mount much of a challenge.

This game in my opinion will be a 7-8 on the rating scales good but with issues.

If you like racing games heck your missing out on a lot of extra fun without a wheel.

Rumours are a new X360 wheel is coming if not Microsoft then possibly Logtech but the current X360 wheel is aparently discontinued which leans to me to say Microsoft have a new one in the works.

AI in nearly every game is a big POS. fps ai is kind of improving, but I wouldn't say much. racing AI is just follow the waypoint and go x speed depending on how the player is doing. F1 AI is just awful.

I still play F1CE every now and then, and I always seem to get taken out by back markers who seem to make moves that make no sense when I'm trying to pass, or as soon as I pass start attacking me and end up running me off the road.

Pitstops look great, hope the process of pitting and leaving isn't automated though.

How awesome would it be to have to press the speed limiter button at the right time, otherwise there is a drive through penalty, then you have to stop at the markers (whch is in) and then drive off again and take off the limiter.

:D

you do have to stop the car yourself (from what I've read).... and every video I've seen people are speeding in the pits... so maybe :D

That's good then, and I'm sure it will be penalised in-game.

Running a few mechanics over, anybody? :D

Hopefully something more compact - If my official MS wheel wasn't so damn cumbersome I'd use it. I was led to believe MS won't release the FFB code for the wheels, so other manufacturers can't produce a competing product ?

I love how MS seem to screw over their customers to make sure no one else can compete with them.... as bad as apple with the app store

assuming the FFB issue is true :)
