*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Was thinking it sounded weird, the 50kg isn't even a warm up.

Get yourself some 150kg ones :D

I can hold 45KG dumbells alright that's not a problem once I hit around 120 for shrugging endurance is a bit of an issue, 150's do-able for deadlifting. It's all a bit wierd. I think a lot of it is weakness in my actual hand as opposed to forearm. I know they're obviously linked!

The highest rate Captains of Crush can only be closed by 4 people in the world apparently! I think a lot of people are probaly more capable but just haven't tried :D

Sounds about right, I use the 50kg dumbbells for shrugging and my grip usually start failing on the last two reps.

But for deadlifting it's far easier. But remember when we hold a dumbbell we can sometimes let it be more on the fingers than having a fully closed grip.

So the hand grippers seem more challanging, but they do wonders for grip strength and forearms.

I'd love to try those Captains of Crush aswell, like you I think plenty more people can close them. Just not many have tried. Who knows maybe some lads here can attempt it on video and show it :D

we have 50's back home but stop at 45's at the uni gym. Bit of a pain as in a couple of weeks my incline press will have progressed passed the 45's hopefully! Have to switch to a barbell!

If & when I progress I might grab a hold of a 360lb one just for a laugh. Could turn it into a chest work out using both arms to crush it :p

When I finally make it to a strongman meet I'll bring some of my gadgetry along for people to have a ganders over :)

Looking forward to it :D

Gonna have to adjust my training times a little though as the time i usually train is just too busy for AGVT to be do-able.

Soo my gym only has a smith machine for squats and I got sick of doing squats on it. I decided to improvise a little and made my own little squat rack with two benches. It wasn't very stable and comfortable to use but it did the job. :)

Funniest thing was, I was squatting nice and deep on my 2nd set and I suddenly hear this massive tearing sound! I assumed it was my track pants that tore but I really wanted to finish my set so I did and quickly ran to the locker room to check it out. It was actually my boxer shorts that tore up  haha :D. Nothing will stop me from doing my squats.

Anyone had similar experiences?

I improvise on the olympic bench. Face backwards and lean in under and then sort of box squat/good morning the weight as I stand up. Then walk back and squat squat squat.

Takes up less equipment ;)

BEAST!

I've recently replaced all 90% of my clothing that's too small, last thing I'd want is to rip pants on squats.

Wouldn't mind ripping a shirt deadlifting or benching though :p

I'm going the other way an replacing everything thats too big, its costing me a dam fortune :(:p

That's soo true!

I recently found Diesel and Pull&Bear had a sale so I went there for shopping needs. Can't believe how expensive clothing is.

And people wonder why most of my shuffs 4 years old at least and very faded.

Also a lady friend of mine was tired of seeing all black and white, so I know own a baby blue and bright pink tshirts also....

I think I need some anabolic cap and eye patch to wear those to the gym :p
