*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Awesome stuff! Nowt better than barbell squats :D

Love it.

There were a lot of shocked faces and I did get quite a few grunts out! Probaly one of my favourite exercises at the moment. Noticed some power improvements over last week which is good :)

The last set of 70KG x 30 was 20 straight reps with no lock out and then rest pause for a few seconds till I made it for 30.

If I've got some good tunes going I just distract myself entirely.

Escaped the gym with shredded hands, bloodied shins and blood red eyes. Probably the hardest gym session I've ever had but I loved every minute of it though

Had a bit of a monster leg session today. Gotta love training legs with a partner with the same dedication and drive as yourself.

Squatting on the olympic bench, box squatting up with an assist and then walking back clear before letting rip.

Won't go into great detail of our entire routine as it was pritty epic but it involved:

Back Squats, Narrow Stance Deep Leg Press (had to use a box on the plate to get deep), SLDL, Volume trained calves with toes presses & standing calf raises and then leg extensions using FST7 at the end.

Set a PB for reps on quite a lot of sets today.

Deffinatley drifted in and out of vomit territory. Gotta love it though.

Only my third time squatting heavy freeweight after years on the smith and I ******* love it!
Haha awesome stuff mate. I know what you mean by the change from smith to freeweight. Sooooo much nicer. :D

I found stalls easier to push through too. As theres less resistance from rails/runners. Can also feel my core & trunk working so much. Even just standin with the weight accross my traps/delts!

Got a small niggle under my right shoulder blade on the inner but disappears as soon as I start repping.

Had an ok sesh this evening, but weight has plateu'd for 2 weeks :/. Spose it could be worse, but I will be annoyed if it stays there for another week.

Leg press finally @ 330lbs which I'm chuffed with as its 150kg, and that just sounds big :p. 5x12.
Bench pyramided 12,10,8,6,4 from 50kg to 65kg. With a 170lb (I don't know where I pulled this from LOL!) on the chest press machine just to get a pump before I left.
Errrm, using 22.5kg for shrugs now, leg extensions from 120lb to 160lb pyramided. Overall a lot of my strength has gone up in these last 3 weeks, but I've stayed at bang on 118kg the whole time. Considering I was pretty much bang on 1kg lost a week since New Years time (started 129kg, had a 3 week break in the middle) I'm a bit peeved :(.

Sigh.

Amazing stuff!

Seems that day off and resting really helped in the end :)

Cheers. Still didn't feel 100% so I dropped the weight for the exercises I was meant to be doing on Wednesday which helped me get through it. Was only a few KG but it made all the difference.

Managed to scoff 3/4s of a Tesco curry meal for two when I got home which made me feel better :D

When I was in my first year of uni I bought a captains of crush and really over-used it. I had it with me all the time and overdid it to the point that I properly messed up my hands and couldn't squeeze a shampoo bottle for like two weeks without pain. So when I recently wanted to use the CoCs again I was nervous about using that original one and so bought the Trainer. Since I can do 3x10 with the trainer I had the first one I bought sent over, which I thought was a #1. Turns out it's actually a #1.5 so quite a jump up from 100lbs to 167lbs but as I'm about 1mm from closing it at the moment I'm looking forward to progressing.

Bodyweight now up to an all-time high of 88kg at 178cm and since rats ate my protein power I'm now completely supplement-free.

Funny that, ive not used supps for ages, but im starting them again today.

Just took my first dose of BSD Reloaded, which is the only strength/pump/focus blends that has ever worked for me. The tingles from the Beta Alanine have kicked in though and they are driving me mad :D .. Looking forward to training with it again, im not a bodybuilder but i do love the pump from reloaded, even my never trained biceps get all Arnie'd up on it :D

Aside from that im glugging BSD greens powder and will be taking Cissus at bed time for its anti catabolic effect and to help my tendonitis and the odd whey shake when my protein has been low that day.

Yeah, I get through maybe 7kg of whey a year! Though when I do big intensive work outs, like AGVT I do supplement extra such as EAAs and creatine to get every bit of help I can get as my diet is pretty spot on now. So I use it when my intensity and volume hits levels where "assistance" would be required, so I do the best I can with what is available. More often than not if you have a good diet you just don't need to, however, there's no denying that some supplements can and do help - but most people use it before they're ready IMO (but that's detracting from this thread, and belongs in the supp discussion thread!).

Started my mini cut today for the next 8 weeks or so, I really hate cardio though so it's going to be really tough since I basically just watch what I eat and bump up the cardio for a few weeks.

Why do you hate cardio? Make it fun... a game of squash, or basketball, some skipping, or hill sprints with a mate. Turn it into an activity. :)

Had a good sesh the other day.

squats 40 reps @ 150kg
a couple of sets of squats at 180kg (for 3) too. :D
DL 40 reps @ 185kg
leg press 28 reps @ 350kg
calf raises 35 reps @ 100kg

That's nearly 30 tonnes excluding warm up! :D  My legs are going to huuuuuurt! \o/

Learnt another lesson today to be more careful with japanese dovetail saws!

Managed to cut very deeply the inside of the finger next to the pinky on my left hand. About 7-8mm deep and around an inch long. Being a pull saw and it having jumped up on the pull had the saw effect as pushing a regular saw through your finger

Needless to say blood ****ed everywhere. After the adrenaline wore of it was stinging and throbbing like a mo fo. Not too bad now but can't exactlt put mass amounts of pressure on it which is annoying as today is back day and I wanted to do some heavy deadlifts.

Thinking i'll just stick a strap on that wrist and do my best with my other 3 fingers & thumb :p

Just changing the dressing, probaly a bit too soon and just got blood all over my shorts :(

In OCUK tradition photo's are available upon request (providing it's allowed) :p
