*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

i've just got my Desire and well i'm not getting on with it...

I don't know whether i haven't got it set up correctly or what, I'm with Orange and just wanted to know from you with Orange how long it took for it to work right, by that i mean when i click on internet icon it just doesn't load and when i try with wifi on it doesn't like it, i should say it doesn't go to other websites either??? the 3G doesn't seem to be working in both directions?

i really want this phone to work as i have seen on the youtube vids, please help me if you can.

Thanks J

Just talked to Voda, they're stock has been delayed by the no fly zone that is the UK and it looks like I won't get mine until the end of the week.

I'm joining the Desire club soon; spoke to Vodafone Web Relations today after dropping them an email yesterday, and sorted out an early upgrade as my current phone is playing up.

I've got it for free with 600 mins, unlimited tx, 500mb internet. 18 month contract £30pm

Looking forward to it, but apparently Vodafone have no stock atm, so probably won't receive it to the end of the week/early next week.:(

On the upside they are preallocating the stock that they have arriving, so if you ordered it very recently you may have a bit more of a wait depending on the demand.

Bah, doesn't seem as if mine was dispatched today, no tracking email or confirmation of postage or anything from the website, and nothing appeared on City Link website yet :(. Phoned them earlier to confirm they had it in stock and was assured it would be dispatched today... Hopefully something will appear tonight, but I'm not holding out much hope for a delivery tomorrow.

How do I stop getting facebook contacts in my address book? It's added loads i don't need so I'd rather just have it as an option in the "people" menu where I can select them if I want, instead of it filling my handcent and phone app phone books. Cheers.

I tell a lie.. It's been dispatched! Woo, coming by DPD tomorrow. Hopefully they still put it on 12pm service, makes life so much easier when stuck on camp lol.

Vodafone sent me regular texts telling me when the phone was dispatched and at what time to expect delivery

You not get something similar?

Bought it from another company, getting it sim free. But as previous post, they've sent the email confirming dispatch :).

I got a text from Vodafone the day of despatch then a text from DPD saying it was out for delivery and to expect it between 11 and 12. It arrived around 12. Excellent service all round from Vodafone.

Has anyone been checking the latest deals on these? Looking to order one this week and going direct through a network provider is proving to be more expensive than other 3rd party sellers i.e. Phones4U, MobilePhonesDirect

The best I have seen is:

Phones4U, free phone, Orange 300mins 3000texts unlimited internet, 18 months £25p/m

MobilePhonesDirect.co.uk, free phone, T-Mobile 300mins unlimited texts & internet, 18 months £25p/m

Tempted to go with P4U as I currently have a contract with them that is ending next week but I'm not keen on Orange as a network provider. As for MPD, they have good deals but from some responses in this thread a lot of people have had problems with delivery/cancelling.

Can anyone advise please?

You can stop the phone contacts from being filled with fb contacts. Go to people, then menu, then view, and untick facebook contacts...
But, they will still appear in messaging, which is really annoying. Apparently the new version of Hancent lets you hide fb contacts in messaging, but ive updated to it, and the option isnt there.
