*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

class 2 card. t-mobile branding is minimal, all i've noticed is tmob homepage on the web and t mobile startup screen

Yep no external branding which is a result i think...the tmobile startup screen is like a 1 sec before it disappears but on mine i havent seen any tmobile icons etc etc.

I just called them to leave and the best they could offer me was £36.22 for the handset, £25 a month on a 24 month contract :(

You need to speak to the web relations team at Vodafone - see the twitter page VodafoneUKDeals on how to contact them. They'll then call you back, extremely good service from them.

Mine was £30pm for 18mths, if your new/trying to leave they'll sort you out for £25!

They are...a start up logo, splash screen and the homepage are the only tmobile branded bits on the phone....nothing else is branded ie externally or internally.

I guess its the same with Vodafone then, will see when it arrives, if so I will be installing a generic firmware

I did, got terrible service from them. They replied 2 hours after I contacted them to say that as I was an existing customer I should go to a Vodafone shop and they couldnt help me.

I replied saying I was keen to take a new contract but got nothing back from them.

Request your PAC and talk to retentions then, I did.

Notification bar is also branded.... Homepage is easy to change and the startup logo and splash screen is only for an instant and only when you turn it on.... Least they havent stuck the god awful T-Mob jingle as a startup or shutdown sound like they have for other phones.

PDANet in the market, free for the basic version, with only HTTP access, you need the full-phat app for HTTPS and the like. It also requires software on your laptop, so I make a habit of having the installer on my phone memory card all the time :) And yes this one requires USB, but you'll need to carry one with you anyway to charge the thing every 5 minutes :D

Wait are you telling me I need to use third party software to do something as basic as connect to the internet using my laptop and mobile?

I don't really want to faff about with software, surely it just connects like my Nokia 7110 did 11 years ago?

I did, see my earlier post where they offered me a 'deal' that wasn't really that great. The guy seemed to have the opinion that they didnt have any Desires anyway so why bother making a deal for one.

Fox have you left a message regarding you're PAC with the reps on Twitter as they seem to be offering far better deals, I also spoke to retentions a couple of times and couldn't get anything remotely close to what I was offered by the team via Twitter fyi

Fair point, it should be standard, but its not

Thing is, Vodafone weren't trying to sell you a netbook with a mobile broadband dongle back then ;) Verizon across the pond charges you $30 EXTRA a month to tether you phone, on top of the $30 internet package :o What I'm getting at is mobile operators would rather you weren't tethering, clogging up their airwaves, so are less likely to stock phones capable of it.

Tbh its only as painful/painless as using Nokia's Connectivity Suite to tether with :)

There are more elegant solutions for Android users, but most require the dreaded warranty-voiding mythical beast that is "root-access"

It does work without any software.

I hadn't used it before but there an option on the menu when you plug it in "tether" I clicked that and within less than 10 seconds I was up and running (:

Second time around it took less and 2 seconds. :)

Edit: Second time around I hadn't clicked connect and was loading cache =D Still sub 10 seconds though! Easy as pie.
