***The Official Forza Motorsport 3 Thread***

I'm not even remotely trying to defend FM3 either, I can't see how any driving game is going to succeed at the impossible either.. matching cars so evenly that there become no 'favourites'..

Exactly. How else should they be grouped? By horsepower with no regard for steering ability? Cars have to be grouped one way or another, and PI seems the best of a bad lot as far as I can see.

Plenty of good points.

Although used as a way to compare, I dont really care if games such as this get to offer accurate types of performance to the real cars. Its finding the groups of cars that play best against each other or if tuned then to what settings various cars need to still be competitive.

Youve mentioned some cars that compete well but say problems start when getting into tunning. Thats understandable as it probably would take a lot of work in comparing and tuning to achieve. I agree with comments that the track is also a factor depending on the car used. The game just seems that it needed more tweaking to tighten up the performance matching making better use of the tunes and wider choice of cars. I dont agree that its impossible as proper playtesting and modifying the strength of tunning effects should have instantly let the devs determine what cars were ones that needed either more or less in their PI or actual true performance. As a sim then this aspect probably deserved as much attention as barrell rolls/damage effects or indeed adding cockpits to the franchise.

If T10 put more effort into this or indeed improved it from updates such would only improve the game for me and how Id rate it better in general. As it is this puts me off tunning rather than making it appeal to me. It seems to be though that their isnt a guide that has been done by FM3 players that are trying to find out how to get particulary tuned cars to be competitive to the point they are in standard trim in lower or mid classes.

would have liked to of set up a Lan with some friends but had cars pretuned and tested knowing what would give players the best races...
Thanks for your comments and dealing with such without attitude but general interest/conversation.

Installing to HDD = win

Without it, adding upgrades can be very labourious as it's slow to load the parts I have found, especially wheels.

Just did 14 laps on the NY circuit, R3 class (I think) in my ever-so-tasteful white Lambo Reventon, towards lap 13 my left hand thumb started cramping and spazzing out :p never done a race that long before.

By the way I've finally started playing on hard mode and it's a real step up from medium! I've managed to come 1st in 4/5 races though, came 2nd in the other, have all assists off apart from traction control (with some cars) and braking only racing line, I'm really chuffed with myself tbh since this is my first ever racing game :D

I'm the same - weaning myself off the assists. I've had it down to no assists at all and just braking line for some of the F class events. Started the Australian touring car event (the one for the Holden cars) and just hammered the throttle off the line, spun wildly, and realised I'd left all the assists off. Pondered restarting the race, but managed to pull it back from last place which I was quite pleased with.

BTW I found the Reventon to be pretty rubbish at handling. It's great in a straight line but awful through the bends. Upgrade your Nissan Skyline and that should be much more satisfactory.

iv ended up going back to medium, hard is well...too hard, there needs to be a step in between M and H, because medium is often too easy so iv resorted to only half tuning my car to be competitive, now races often end with me 1second in front so its pretty good.

defaintly enjoying it more on medium with all but antilock off, hard just feels like a chore.

just did the A class nurburgring point to point races, they were good fun in a porsche!
level 16 atm.

How many of you guys are using a wheel ? I just can't decide to buy one or not.

I use a wheel!, and in all the race series I am in, the majority of people are using wheels in the top lobbies..

However, there are some quick guys that also use a pad (about 20%) in the top lobbies and seem to do very well indeed..

I believe that if you give it enough time you will be fast with either a pad or wheel, the wheel at least has the benefit of some slightly better interaction in terms of force feedback!.

:)

I would be, if the ******* postman had bothered to shout to my wife in the back garden to let her know he was there, instead of just shoving a card through the letterbox and buggering off.

I'll let you know tomorrow...

Wow, the forums at the official site really have been sanitized I notice the "Sound Issues?" thread has disappeared, but a key piece has been preserved in this thread anyway.

They had quite a big tidy up not so long back. I try and avoid the official forums, every other thread just seems to be a group of whiney kids moaning that they want this, that sucks, Turn 10 suck, why is there no 180sx, car pack is rubbish because I dont like X car etc.

Yeah that is tiresome, but I went there for a time in the beginning to see what the response was to the real issues. Poor to non existent was the answer.

offical forums for any games are just full of little teenagers raging.... i wouldnt even bother reading them.

Forums will Always be pants when genuine issues are Deleted. :(
