*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

It's on certain shades of gray only, not web safe colours or something - a whole tech article written on it on XDA.

My pink issue was a dimmed display issue where a low brightness showed a pink tint on the whole screen - that isn't normal but pink around the grey buttons and the HTC site + others however is normal.

IIRC Google are fixing image quality issues.

So is the whole screen going pink easy to spot?

Can you give me an example of what was pink when you had it? was the large white time on the home screen pink as well?

I just want to make sure mine is ok, i only get pink on the htc site and the ticks on gmail. I checked apple for example and it seems fine.

I see people are returning the phone even for the pink issue on the htc site, does your new one do this kann?

I dont think ill be routing mine, to much hassle and time and risk of bricking!

Went through that with my iphone, chose this too avoid exactly that!

I posted a photo earlier!

Here's how it looked on the pink handset (right) next to my dad's Desire on orange:

Wow, such a difference there! Glad you got it sorted fella.

I hope mine isn't like that or I will be going to my local Vodafone shop to get a swap.

(Them Desires looks like they have a black glossy finish in the bottom pics, looks great lol.)

The screen is pretty glossy but you'll marvel at the screens in dimly lit areas because black is pitch black, no LCD outline or backlight either so if you drew 2 red eyes in a paint app on a black background then followed someone in a pitch black room they'd actually think a monster was following them :p

Cash you say!

Just send me your bank details I send you monies...

:p At the very least you'll be able to uninstall some of the standard apps like the Stock checker and Teeter (!) and others, freeing up valuable memory! After that there is Apps2SD, custom ROM installations (Cyan ports), camera hacks, divx/mkv/x264etc should all be possible given the chipset these things have!

It's hard to tell with just one handset on the pic as the camera white balance could throw it off but immediately to me that looks fine! There will always be a hint of pink here and there, AMOLED as mentioned above but it should not look like how mine did above!

It doesn't look as clear as your second shot. Is that your fathers one next to it again?

Mine just doesn't seem that bright on that same brightness settings

Now I got the Nexus Car Dock I decided to get a cheapo holder.

Got one of these for £4.99 FREE Delivery off the bay. Cheapest one I could find and it works just great :)

Mine is on the right in both pics, both are long exposures btw.

mine has a pink issue when set to 0 brightness, never noticed it before this post but looks fine when set to automatic, dont notice it at all

I think they will all have it at 0 brightness, even my dad's does at 0 but go to 1 and it goes away.

The true test of pink tint is to disable sleep when connected via cable because the screen dims after a few seconds of being left idle. On my old one a dimmed screen = pink. On my dad's one and my new one a dimmed screen = no pink!
