What mp3 player do you have?

i have a sansa clip 8gb with rockbox on it.

i wonder if anyone has ever made a push bike soundsystem so you can have music on the move and still be able to hear things around you?

use an open headphone like the sennheiser px100 and then you can still hear everything around you.

Ipods are pretty much as good as it gets without spending mega money, you could always get over your fanboyism or whatever silly problem you have with apple and just get an ipod.

why does everything have to come down to "fanboyism" he may just want something other that an ipod which is well within his rights

I have a dual dac sflo2 player silver cable caffine ultra amp and ultrasone hfi780 cans

I dont think thats very fair, its just a preference of mine, im sure you dont buy certain brands of food/drink/electronic equipment aswell, i dont shout out saying that theyre rubbish etc

Only after using them and having a bad experience. Have you actually owned many Apple products? Or just enjoy being on the anti-Apple bandwagon? ;)

As a comparison to what you've said; I wouldn't dislike Heinz ketchup and thusly automatically avoid their beans until I've tried them.

You ever leave your home without your phone  ? Mp3 + phone takes more space than just a phone.

I'm not typical of most people. I use my phone for emergencies only, and it's normally turned off and in my backpack. I don't take it with me around town, nor do I listen to music around town. Both my mp3 player and phone are used most often when I'm out hiking or camping.

If I use all the battery of my mp3 player it's no big deal. I just have no music :p Use all the charge on my phone and I need to then find somewhere I can charge it, or run the risk of not having it when I really need it (twisted ankle in the middle of nowhere, fell off cliff face, etc :P)

I've also found that phones are the worst culprits for not living up to the stated battery life specs. A phone rated for 48 hours probably only does 15 max in real life usage. At least that's been my experience.

If your phone is more for recreation/luxury, and you take it everywhere with you, then yes, I can see the benefit of using to play music also. For me, right now, I'm happier keeping them separate.

I can't be the only one to take this stance, or separate mp3 players wouldn't be made anymore ;)

You're not alone! I prefer to use a dedicated mp3 player than the phone. The Sansa weighs next to nothing too and when cycling i keep my phone inside an zipped inner pocket of my backpack. I would be far more annoyed losing, damaging or running out of battery on my phone than the mp3 player.

If i'm just wondering around the town or walking somewhere I will use my phone. Going on holiday or a long trip I will use my walkman as it has a much better battery life for music and I don't necessarily have my phone on me.

32gb ipod, but I am not an apple funboy, it just happens that I wanted something I can connect to my car stereo and the only head units that can have some mp3 players connected are the ones supporting ipods.

But my favourite mp3 plaer that I ever had was Sony MZ-RH1 (it was one of the top ends mini disc players), build quality was the best I have ever seen on a mp3 players, the remote was excelent, batterely life was just crazy long, the only problem was the size of the tapes, 1gb or something with the special compression.
