I agree it seems the only networks offering more are Tmobile and o2 although o2 dont really advertise what their limit is. Whats disappointing is that the Google Nexus 1 contracts on voda have a 1 gig limit yet the desire is only 500mb. Its pretty much the same phone apart from the HTC sense UI :(
 
Do all T-Mobile android phones automatically get 3gb internet? If I was to take a deal on a third party site with no mention of internet would t-mobile still give me the 3gb?
 
I would imagine it has to have data included as part of the deal otherwise I suspect you would pay for data on a pay as you go basis.
 
I was going to order a deal from Vodafone, but having second thoughts now. Going to check what kinda deals the other providers have, while checking coverage maps.

Do O2 have any details for the Desire yet?

Yeah a lot went with voda for the twitter deals and because they suspected o2's contracts would not be very good (and not for the first time) but now we have been hit with this cloud over the data allowance.

Not sure if it will really effect me. With 10 days left on my monthly bill with o2 I have used a grand total of 18mb as I have wifi for when im at home but with these android phones depending a lot on data for updating facebook, twitter etc Im not sure if I will get close to the 500mb :(

Edit: And half of us dont actually have our phones yet, including me :(
 
Impressed on how the battery life is improving as the days roll on!

Today I've been at work and had WiFi connected throughout the day browsing various websites, downloading apps amd generally using the phone with a 5min48s phone call thrown in too. I leave cell reception set to auto which grabs HSDPA almost all the time but sometimes resorts to EDGE or 3G if signal strength drops.

I also used satnav on the drive home via Google Maps and this was a 35 minute drive. I was surprised at how little battery nav uses once again:

It seems the bulk of my battery drain today has been the mobile network trying to keep more than 1 bar reception indoors at work :p The amoled display is superb at power usage as you can see.

Love how Android gives you all the information on a plate like this and you can tailor your phone usage accordingly.

And even then, it is a soft limit so there is no charge if you go over. Really shows why T-Mobile is better, plus when I was in store they said they are merging T-Mobile and Orange masts over the next 6 months, so they will have great phones, tariffs, internet and coverage. Win!

You will hardly use the trackball, seriously! Not touched mine since I've had my Desire!

The only time I will use it is when taking a picture!

If you get it on t-mobile from a third party site you'll probably put on web 'n' walk with limits your download speed and the data is only 1gb. Ringing t-mobile and telling them that you have an android phone that requires an always on data connection should see you put on the web 'n' walk plus free of charge which increased the speed 5 fold for me and you get the increased 3gb limit.
