*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

@growse - Probally not. To connect to an Exchange server 2003 or later you had 3 options 1) Activesync - pretty much the defacto way to connect to exchange 2) OWA - pretty obvious webmail access 3) RPC/HTTPS or now Outlook Anywhere this lets you connect outlook to your exchange server without the need for a VPN connection.

Also managed to get hold of a sim free Desire should be here on Monday with any luck :)

Hmmm - my company makes OWA available on the internet, and on my old Blackberry it was possible to set that up as an email account. Give it the URL and login details and it would treat it like a regular account - presumably it polled it and screen scraped the output or something.

I'm surprised this doesn't exist for the android, but Activesync does. Am I right in thinking activesync has to be against an Exchange server itself, rather than an OWA site?

Guy i really need help sorting this wifi issue, bought the phone on tuesday but wifi does not seem to work properly, dissconnects but shows the wifi icon, tried loads of settings and channels.

all other device work fine with wifi router d-link 615 N router with 50mb connection (VM)

I have n900, ps3, netbook on wifi and main PC wired but desire does not load pages properly when on wifi

Have you tried the obvious checks to confirm it's not your router being incompatible with the current security modes and the wifi chipset on the phone such as:

1: Security mode (use WPA2+AES)
2: Channel (change channels)
3: Signal strength (what is it when it does cnnnect on the phone?)

Mine is black.

It's either black or a very dark brown. Can't quite decide. I'd go with Dark Brown. Think Dark Chocolate. :p

It's the kind of colour you'd expect to see on an extremely attractive woman in an evening dress - that kind of dark browny/purply colour and it glistens in the light too.

I like it, obviously!

Hi mate, tried different security mode, changed channels and signal is strong.

this might sound weirdo but bbc new site works, every click loads, this site, and some other forums, quidco even the HTC site does not load or takes ages and stops sometimes

Just had a scare.

My O2 sim now doesn't work so I assume the porting process is underway. Popped my Vodafone sim in and it also doesn't seem to have any reception yet. It then realised a new SIM was inserted and asked to restore settings. It did that. Went to put my scene back on which no longer existed so tried the Play scene.

Got back to Home screen and got the message that the HTC Sense process had stopped. Essentially, I could do nothing as Sense would crash everytime it tried to start itself. Popped my O2 sim back in and it seems fine. :/

Rather bizarre I must say!

Can you connect to another wireless AP and test at all? friend/neighbour etc?

I pointed my Mail application on my HTC Desire to my works OWA and it uses it just like any other mail account. I believe it has to be Exchange 2003 with SP2 or greater for this to work.

Set it up how you would straight to the exchange server but instead of putting in the server address enter the web address i.e mail.yourcompany.com etc

Works for me :)

Tried that. The url is https://blah.blah.com/exchange/, so I put blah.blah.com and all sorts of combinations of domain, no-domain, DOMAIN\username, and I just get 'authentication failed'. SSL is checked as well.

just got text confirmation of my phone being dispatched for delivery tomorrow by DPD

What issues have people had with them? Just pink tint to the screens?
need a case too, dont think it will last long in my pocket with my keys

Cheers

Pinkish tint at lowest brightness but other than that everything else really is fine hardware wise!

I put Juice defender on my phone this morning and have been using my desire as I usually would, ie. checking emails, a bunch of calls, loaded a few web pages etc. The battery bar hasnt even moved yet, when, by now it might be half way empty yesterday!!!! Loading up the app says im currently at x2.08 saving.

Impressed :D

My work has OWA aswell as activesync running, my settings are as follows:

email address: name.surname
server address: services.ourdomain.com
Domain: our local domain name
username: name.surname
password: my password

and the SSL box is ticked.

perhaps have a word with your IT dept. to see if they have enabled activesync and associated it with an alias (the services.ourdomain.com part).

Hope that helps.
matt.
