Just woke up and this is the best news I have heard in years (result).

Labour/Libdem coalition seems by far the most likely solution. Fantastic.

Never, in my living memory, has an opposition with such a massively large lead at the start of the election failed so badly. Sorry Cameron, everyone realises your 'my policies are a secret just give me your vote' strategy was hopeless.

Again fantastic news. I think Labour will continue to perform the economic recovery we so desperately require, and then crack into the debt when we are back on our feet.

A fantastic day for everyone. Well, apart from ultra-rich folk! :)

That would be the quickest way to kill any chance of electoral reform succeeding in a referendum. It would prove Cameron correct with all his criticisms of PR, it is no longer the country choosing the government, but the political classes...

Fortunately, Clegg disagrees with you and will respect the will of the electorate.

Err No. Nick clegg will speak to the Tories.

Err No Labour have Failed !

Err No Labour took us into the deepest recession in living memory. Our deficit is going to be worst than Greece's and we will lose our triple A credit rating. Labour will/ have taken us to economic disaster

A fantastic day for everyone. Well, apart from ultra-rich folk! :)

Err No. Will be fantastic when Bigoted Brown leaves.

heh wow

The strength of the pound went down against all other currencies when a possible LIB/LABOUR was announced. Yet Lib just mentioned about a possible lib/con the strength of the pound increased.

Shuv that up your backside Labour , even the economy doesn't want you LOL

Er, the strength of the pound going down is fantastic news for our exporters.

It's not 'the stronger the better' you know!!

No they weren't. They were formed to be slightly further right than Labour. They were formed to be in between Labour and the Conservatives

Well, strictly speaking they were formed from one group that sits level with the Tories economically, but is much more socially liberal, and one that sits to the left of the Tories but is slightly less socially liberal when the Liberals and SDP merged.

You see I like a NICE society. Not a 'screw you, I'm alright Jack' society. Simples!

If a lab/libdem coaltion forms, I win. The country has spoken. Looks like the 'nasty party' failed to win overall. Admittedly bad, for multi-millionaires.

haha and you voted labour? are you kidding - theyv made this country a complete joke in the world. voilent crime, immigration, a flagging nhs - christ i could go on....they effectively took everything tories worked hard to build and turned it to **** in 13 years.

again do you really think millionaires are going to continue to stay here with every increasing taxes??? already businesses are leaving like flies bc of labours frankly ill informed steal from the rich give to the useless poor.

your be begging for a 'screw you, im alright jack' society when this country hits its deepest financial crisis for a century and all labours answer will be is 6bn debt recovery (yet are debt incresed by 15bn in the past 4 weeks) and ****ing off the richest that make a big difference to our economy.

****ing ill informed labour supporters.

your an idiot.

Interesting speech by Nick Clegg, good to see him sticking to his earlier statements that the Conservatives have the mandate to try and form a Government, Cameron should get on the phone.

This could be decisive, but then again he could just be posturing, he wants the best deal possible with labour and this could just be a threat, either way I think GB is going to have to go.

Policies are not some simple Left versus Right ideology. Our traditional view is Socialist left, Conservative/Capitalism right - but there's another axis. The involvement of the state - Statism versus Liberalism.

The Lib Dems share social values with Labour, but are closer to the Tories on state involvement.

Labour bought us the biggest, longest economic boom EVER. EVER. It was friggin awesome!

If the businesses didn't leave after 13 years, they arn't going anywhere. obviously.

Gordon Brown made us avoid depression. It was a GLOBAL recession. You think Britain could cause that under ANY PM? We're not that powerful ...

Can you remember when the tories were last in? Imagine if I told you your interest on your mortgage was 15%. 15% the price of your house, to be paid, per year. Would you be happy?

I WANT higher taxes, better public services.

I always have.

That's what I voted for. You see I like a NICE society. Not a 'screw you, I'm alright Jack' society. Simples!

What makes you think a fiscally and socially authoritarian society is 'nicer'?

I prefer social and economic freedom, personally.

Last I checked it was something like:

Tory: 10m votes 290 seats
Lab: 8m votes 250 seats
Lib: 6.5m votes 50 seats

This needs to be fixed.

Totally agree, it's daft. Ordinarily Labour would have done better from that share of the vote due to where they're traditionally strongest too.

Anyone else think Clegg/Lib Dems will lose a lot of student/young voters if they form a coalition with the Tories?

If we get a PR system it won't matter, I imagine they'll pick up a lot of votes from people who no longer have to fear that voting LD would let in someone they really don't want.
