So? Coalition government has been proven to be successful in many parliaments, including some of the strongest economies in the world: the Nordic countries, Benelux, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Turkey, Israel, New Zealand, Kosovo, Pakistan, Kenya, and India.

Do you know why coalitions exist? I'd have thought the present situation in the UK would have told you.

Its to solve hung Parliaments.

In all these countries with PR they effectively end up with 2 parties.

In a 2 party system you always have a majority. Look to the US as an example of that.

And THERE'S the change. I knew it was soon coming :)

See his change from 'PR does not cause hung parliaments/coalition governments' to 'Coalition governments are plenty strong enough anyway so it's cool'? Subtle .. and funny ..

THERE'S the argument change. I know it was coming. Fantastic, he can't do 'PR doesn't cause hung parliaments' so he's gone to 'Coalitions ain't that bad anyways' all in one little tidy paragraph. If you can't win the fight, change the fight eh? :)

I love it. Shall we argue about the pros and cons of coalitions rather then whether PR causes them or not now Platypus? Would that be better for ya? Easier? ;) hoho

So is Labour going to do a deal with Lib-dems and attempt to carry on? Will it succeed, or will we see another general election any time soon?

It was a very close LibDem/Con seat but this time Labour show a massive drop and LibDems a large rise

There were large drops for Labour in many constituences, it vaired quite a bit. Large rises for Lib Dems were less common though. It seems that people didn't really want the change that the Lib Dems were promising. Wonder how long Nick Clegg has got as leader?

But Coalitions Aren't neccessarily a bad thing.

326 seats are needed..

Conservatives have 301
Labour have 255
Lib Dems have 55

So.. 255 + 55 = 310

What on earth are you talking about? There is no change. PR doesn't cause hung parliaments, and coalition governments are a successful method of government. I have never said PR doesn't create coalition governments, because thats exactly what it does create, and in many countries has been proven to be a strong method of governance. You're spouting crap, as usual.

Did you read post 3062 for a better explanation of Australian politics? Or would you want to ingore that little bit of reality so you can keep playing your pathetic childish troll games?

Once you realise because otherwise you have a hung Parliament, you've come to the end of the thought process.

Its like saying bacteria doesn't cause an infection because I have antibiotics to solve the problem.

I dont really give a toss at long as I dont have to put up with the one eyed **** in power anymore. Would prefer Con, obviously.

You haven't understood the conversation. You can't apply the thought to this one election alone. This will be a permanent change to how elections are done in this country.

A summary:

1) I say 'PR causes hung parliaments'
2) Australian bloke says 'no it doesn't, check out Australia'
3) I say 'that's anecdotal evidence'
4) You say .. 'er .. no it isn't Britboy you are stupid and WRONG it's fact .. Check out these facts
5) Lots of people say 'er .. your facts look riddled with hung parliaments!'
6) I spend 2 hours explaining what 'anecdotal evidence' actually is to you and what it means
7) You say 'Well .. er .. er .. PR DOES cause hung parliaments, obviously. Coalitions are cool by the way (!!)'
8) We all lol and move on. Thanks for playing.
