*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Anyone using their Desire in their car via bluetooth?

I can get AVRCP working, but it only seems like the features of v1.2 are available.

I can change tracks, but it doesn't display the track title info on my JVC headunit. Is this the same for everyone and could the Desire be updated in the future to support this?

How much "bulk" does it add to the phone? Any downsides to it? How well does it grip the phone?

Would be good if you could find a way of photographing it with the phone in :)

I did a mini review a few pages back, it grips the phone very tightly & in general is a very good case.

I ordered from mobilefun, it was advertised as having a belt clip & when I asked where mine was they then changed the web page so there was no mention of the belt clip. I then got an email from them pretty much calling me a liar & saying that their web page does not say it comes with a belt clip......I sent them the google cache link to the version I had that does mention the belt clip.

Absolute muppets, people like that should not be in business, If they had said "oops sorry the website is wrong" then I would have accepted it, to make me out to be a liar though, that got me wound up a tad.

Great case though, just order it from somewhere else ;)

Guys can you help me out. I travel every 8 weeks for 2 weeks at a time. I dont like taking my laptop with me as its a 17" and quite bulky, therefore a pain when Im taking several flights and lugging it about.
Would the Desire be a good laptop replacement just so I can browse full internet pages, use hotmail, company webmail, etc? I just want to be connected where ever I go without taking the laptop. What do you reckon?

Technically it should be fine but I don't know how your webmail system works so it's best to give it a test run first, maybe go to a local phone shop and give it a run!

Personally I can't make my Uni webmail work, but that doesn't even work on Chrome  That's how backwards Cardiff Uni is :p

The mail app supports Exchange, would that do as an alternative?

If you're trying the use it as a laptop replacement you'll need something of at least the Desires resolution, but perhaps look at the Dell Streak, due out this summer on Vodafone. Makes an HD2 look tiny :p perfect for web browsing IMO, but I'd await proper reviews first :)

Cheers griffo. Will have a look into the Streak. The webmail at work is Lotus based. It doesnt like IE much but works ok with everything else. Maybe a netbook would do the job, but Id prefer a Desire :p

Car holder (suction mount) just arrived, along with a 16gb SD. The mount looks pretty good actually, holds it pretty well and the arm is nice and stiff so it shouldn't be bouncing about.

Just out of interest these people who are buying these sim free, what sort of tarriff's are you getting and how much are they for say 200 mins and unlimited texts and of cause internet ?

All the ones I have seen are 20 quid etc etc doesn't really add up when you do the sums......

If you sign up for 12 months, o2 Simplicity for smartphones is £15 a month for 300 mins, unlimited texts and internet. Orange don't offer any with free internet (unless you sign one for £30pm :(). I dunno about the others.

If you get it on t-mobile from a third party site you'll probably put on web 'n' walk with limits your download speed and the data is only 1gb. Ringing t-mobile and telling them that you have an android phone that requires an always on data connection should see you put on the web 'n' walk plus free of charge which increased the speed 5 fold for me and you get the increased 3gb limit.

Any specific department I need to get through to to get this? Or just general customer service and request web&walk plus?

Thanks, just ordered one too as it will come in handy :)

Also, new sig for a new phone \m/

Tech support. I think the options were, after calling 150, *1144 or *4411 can't remember which now. Tell them you're disappointed with speed and that because you have an android phone you should be on the web 'n' walk plus.
