Anyone else got problems with the HTC weather app? It never displays any weather data for my current location if I have it set to do so - it says 'Plymouth' but its 0c and there is 'No weather data available'.

If I manually select my location as Plymouth it works perfectly but then I suspect it wont auto change as I move around now..

Nope mines been perfect...everytime i go into a different location it comes up with the right name and temps i suppose...well looking at the sky then the screen shows it to be partly cloudy.

I quite fancy one of these, but I have a Hero and N900 already so it would be quite a waste of money I think :(

(Or would it? Convince me!) :p

I still have not found an app to switch 3g off and just use the 2g data call band, what particular toggle is it in settings? Im getting really bad battery life and need to improve it
....
I also take it there didnt look like theres gonna be a fix for removing unwanted contacts from the phone tab?

Impressive!

Link to app for this ?? :)

I have a feeling its the HTC battery thingy but, as I am a lazy mofo and am slightly half-cut at this point, I would like a direct linkage/ref :D :D

i got mine from CPW with discount.

I really want to install couple of games but i would ran out of space. Honestly that is the dumbest thing about this phone/andriod. And waiting for firmware to support apps2sd will be months, i got n900 in feb, already bored and got this. I wish i could port the maemo os on this device :D

If you really want apps2sd now you could just root then manually install 2.2 from HTC's website when it's out, I highly doubt it will be months though :p

I got an N900 in Jan and I'm thinking of getting one of these. Considering the phone I had before the N900 was the Hero, is there really much difference between the Hero and this, other than the hardware improvements and a few bits and bobs?

Is it me or is htc sync one of the worst programs ever? Unable to get it to install the adb driver as its either not found or if I tell it to install it manually i get this process is in use and can not be installed.
sigh

Just echoing this. Is there a way to store contacts to google contacts without the unwanted contacts?

I've tried Khaaan's method posted here. Though I can't get the phone to just display that 1 group?

For now, I've disabled google contacts sync, added my contacts to the phone and set it to display phone contacts only. Is there a better way involving google contacts? As I'd ideally want to sync and back them up.

car suction holder

Bought one, thanks :)

Getting my Desire next week :)

hey camalot/scottland (and maybe khaaan if you meant you was getting the car holder in post on page 120)

i've just received the same holder from that seller..not desire specific as the listing says (its boxed/labeled nexus one!) and has no protection for the sides/back of your phone..i very carefully slid it in as it was tight (ooh err!) and same out and it scratched the soft back cover so unless that doesn't bother you be warned!!:mad: i'm sending mine back probably out of principle.. shame as the suction part looks ok but the holder has sharp edges to the plastic.. i'm gonna wait for specific oem or one that has some cushioning!

one thing you will notice is that all other phone OS is limited compared to n900's maemo, the main reason i'm making the switch is because i want a portrait phone and multi touch.

Oh another reason is commercial app support.

Nothing beats n900's true multi tasking. I will deffo get a meego device in the future.

Yup, under Bubble Settings:

Received SMS Colour:
R = 22/8
G = 22/8
B = 22/8
Transparency = 25/5

Sent SMS Colour:
R = 15/3
G = 20/1
B = 20/9
Transparency = 25/5

Font colours for sent/rec SMS:
(All 0, so black, and 25/5 transparency which is max)

Date font colour:
R = 15/4
G = 13/9
B = 12/0
Transparency = 25/5

Background custom colour:
R = 91
G = 14
B = 17
Transparency = 24

Now I can back those up lol!

Yeah I thought as much. I do like the N900 and would need a really good reason to change it I suppose.

What I dislike about it is that it doesn't feel like its a phone, and parts of it seem quite clunky at times, but it's a very nice device.

I'll probably see in a few weeks time and then decide whether to get one of these Desires or not, a quite like the thought of a refined HTC Hero :p

What are people's reasons for using alternate message apps? I've tried both chompSMS and Handcent but to me now it seems ugly and annoying....

I use it for the message popup, better conversation layout and more customisable for everything (Handcent)
